@JasonAblin @MrsCollins1787 But to the point, how much of the PD we do year in and year out is research based? How much of it is created by educational experts? In my experience, not enough
Wow, what a fascinating, well-articulated article about the importance of STR and increasing student background knowledge to support literacy! https://t.co/rHcixfEykw
I started watching @FCDallas as a way to connect with my students, and on sports days I love seeing the smile on the faces of the kiddos who play with @FCDallasYouth light up when they see my jersey. #SomosFCD#DTID#TESleads
@MsYingling I will probably not replace mine with the graphic novel, but I do need a new copy that isn't so musty. Sachar-wise I was thinking more of "There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom", which at least one teacher still reads aloud and they LOVE it every year.
@MsYingling I still recommend older books sometimes, especially Bunnicula which remains one of my favorites, and they still enjoy Louis Sachar if you can. Get them past the old fashioned covers. But definitely they are NOT my go-to recs or the majority of my collection.
@MsYingling I did! I was a kid in the 90s and was a regular reader of Beverly Clearly, Madeline L'Engle, James Howe, and Judy Blume. Just because times have changed doesn't mean kids can't connect with the characters and situations.
@ninathegeeklib Yesterday I told a kid "Look, that's the only copy of number 1. If you don't bring it back nobody is every going to be able to read this series from the beginning EVER AGAIN." Today it came back 🤣
Wow, three whole carts of library books on our first day of book return! I sure have my work cut out for me today, but I am so thankful that our tigers are so responsible with their materials. #TESleads
