James Watson told the truth, but, ya know, some folks cannot handle the truth. The ones who so viciously attacked him disgraced themselves. "Yes, in all directly measurable traits natural variation is the rule. But for brain function a mysterious cosmic force takes over, and we can be certain there is no natural variation whatsoever!!" Does not, cannot make sense.
I do agree with many of the comments, here, and with the Trump administration, that "housing first" has largely failed, and that at its most fundamental the problems of the unhoused are mental illness and addiction. I hated DOGE, I hate the crazy self-aggrandizement of Trump and I hate this war with Iran. But ... I am glad we are moving away from "housing first." And I think the Seattle Times has a lot of damn gall calling it "evidence-based." Yeah ... if you give people housing, no questions asked, then those people in that housing will be housed. But they will not live any longer or be healthier, because their mental illness or drug addiction or both have not been addressed
@HistoryBoomer If you are on the left you ignore the responsible right and focus exclusively on right-wing crazies, and if you are on the right you ignore the responsible left and focus exclusively on left-wing crazies. It is all part of our lively culture.
@borodino51@archeohistories It is just unfortunate, because in each case the people, generally innocent, suffered. Germany did awful things to the Russians in WWII, but it was not the Koenigsburg residents who were guilty, but Hitler. But the people of Koenigsburg were made to suffer.
I am disappointed at the politicization, here. The DOL should just give the facts. And the fact is this is an estimate that could easily change. Always, these figures should be seen as the estimates that they are. I am glad we have them, but do not go overboard. And please, neutrality from the gov.
It is completely unfair to attribute this to gun lobby payments. As you can see from the comments a whole lot of Americans are opposed to gun control. The Repubs are responding to constituent concerns, just as they should. I happen to agree with you on the root issue, because so much gun violence is part of an unplanned outburst by someone with access to a gun. What might have been a shove and a slap, turns into a fatal gunshot. But let us give our opponents credit for sincerity.
And, ya know, we wanna keep it that way and so we protest a Prez who seems to sometimes think he is a king. Look at his FBI director, wrote three kid's books, "The Plot Against the King." No Congress approval for attacking Iran, and that is going sooooo well that they are still able to shut the Straits of Hormuz, and what'rewegonnadonow.
@Libbylee721@GuntherEagleman I do not agree. On the other hand, it is not a sign of stirling mental health and is often accompanied by other mental issues, which should give TA's pause, but does not seem to.
@touchedbyosiris@GuntherEagleman Ohhhhh, I get it. He pulled the trigger and killed a bunch of people, but it's OUR fault. Without evidence you make this audacious claim. Seems so wrong.
@ctydweller08@ajplus Well, now, that is not very sportsmanlike. If we follow the rules and accept that reasonable minds can disagree (about our scores, for example) and that it is not nice to be accusatory, especially without a full fact set, we would live in a more peaceful world
And, uknow, there are plenty of White countries that are prosperous, democratic, have low crime rates and happy people. Cannot reeeeaaallly say the same for Black countries. There are a whole lotta White countries I would move to, gladly. But the Latin Americans, for some reason, seem to not wanna go back to Latin America.
