@DeannaMarie208 Another horrible PICU doc with a 7 min commute, 9 min during rush hour.
12 min if I stop to get coffee. And I always get coffee. Bonus - I can see the helipad from the coffee shop so I know if my patient has landed yet - ideal!
Years of trying to get the kids interested in sports, and all I had to do was wait for one to become a @sportswithjohn fan?
No complaints. I’ll take it.
@DalabihAbdallah Seeing the same. Exception being unvaccinated teens with cardiac issues. Used to come in post-COVID (MIS-C), now with cardiac issues during acute infection. No idea how this will play out long term.
@EmlyCorinne So, so true! My husband was an at home dad to our 4 when they were toddlers 😳 and it made being a peds ICU doc look like a walk in the park. Triple stroller and a baby in a bjorn? I’ll take ventilators and central lines please!
Those days when you splurge on a triple shot mocha after being up in #PedsICU most of the night. And spill ALL of it while taking the first sip right before rounds. All over Child Life’s boots.
And an hour later find out she called her husband to drive and get you a new mocha?!?
My 15 yo son just asked me, “So do you mostly work on people or do you work on the people who work on people?”
…and that may be the best sentence I’ve ever heard to define the difference between my clinical (PICU) and administrative (CMO) work.

One of the best parts of being the attending on for #PedsICU over a holiday? Lego shoes are completely appropriate!
Do adult docs get to wear Lego shoes? Or are they just sad all the time?
“We are 8 pediatric intensive care doctors standing together and asking you to stand up to protect #children.”
Proud to stand w/ my #WomenInPICU colleagues to share this plea led by @DeannaMarie208.

#PedsICU#COVID19
@DeannaMarie208 So *theoretically* what if the non-medical dad knows all the details of the daughter’s rare metabolic disorder, ketogenic diet, G-tube feeds, and meds, while the PICU doc mom is a little fuzzy on the details? 😬
@DalabihAbdallah So true! The first of my 4 got his license last week. He’s doing great, but it feels surreal. Wasn’t it just last week I was rearranging 4 car seats in the minivan?
My only hope at this point is that #4 (4’5” at 12) may not reach the pedals at 16.
@DGlaucomflecken I’ve been looking for this song for YEARS!! Learned at my tiny school in Hawaii in the late ‘80s and only remember the first part - but sing it to my kids ALL the time. Their job is to add ‘Connecticut’ when I pause after Colorado. And that’s all I could remember. Until now!
Hospital surveyors on site all day, now on call for PICU all night.
This somehow led to a lunch of Froot Loops (dry) and espresso.
This was not a good life choice.
