I have been hard on the defense lately, but we are not broken.
NFL ranks through Week 4:
• 1st in yards/play allowed
• 1st in passing yards allowed
• 2nd in EPA/play
• 2nd in success rate
• 3rd in explosive-play rate
• 3rd in QB-hit rate
• 3rd on third down
Fix the red zone. Fix the penalties. The rest is elite.
Drake Thomas had an excellent game in all stages. One of his best.
Derick Hall is developing more ways to win in half man when speed rushing. His bend and bend through contact is special. Angles and handwork allowing him to access it.
The Seahawks defense is 1st in the NFL in epa/play outside the red zone.
They rank 31st in red zone defense.
I asked Mike Macdonald about it today.
“It’s going to be a point of emphasis.”
Interesting to see the data versus the feel on the field, and the injuries we've sustained along the way. I think OC is definitely in a good place. It's more about our blocking, and our backfield
The Seahawks have scored 30+ points in three straight games. Would you believe that has not happened since 2020?
Even with some rough edges, they have outscored the Klint Kubiak offense through four games while missing their starting QB for two of them.
Mike Macdonald on @SeattleSports on Rashid Shaheed's rushing TD...
"I've been seeing that play in practice for a long time so finally we called it and I was like 'thank you, let's go.' We blocked it great by the way. Great run by Shaheed."
