AND Cook....wow. He looks faster this year. I’m looking forward to watching him and Mattison chew up clock this year. Overall, yesterday’s starting performance was disappointing and frustrating but I would argue not totally concerning. #TFFI#Vikings
Much happier with starting D line. Starting to see that chip on the shoulder again. Excited to watch and see what Hill, Alexander, and Weatherly can do this year.
I’m very disappointed in Bebe and Rhodes. I think Bebe needs to do something drastic or we need to start looking at someone else at WR3. Rhodes-wouldn’t be sad if we traded him. Slower, delayed, mistackling, lack of physicality with WRs.
I’m a little concerned that we didn’t try and get our TE duo involved like we did the first two games. I think that is going to be huge in opening up our WRs. Also is a good way to get Cousins some easy completions early in the game.
I’m really happy with how well our OL displaced the defense during running plays. Not as pleased with pass protection though. Cousins needs to have his outlet in mind pre snap.
...maybe only a little better. I do think cousins-thielen connection is going to be deadly. Cousins-diggs needs a little more practice and attention by cousins before it is where it needs to be. I think that was magnified with Thielen being out yesterday.
...say was disappointing on Cousins’ end. Bebe effed up again and dropped an easy 1st down catch. Cousins wasn’t on his A game. But if you threw these scenarios on any starting QB in the league, they aren’t going to be on their A game. Could he have done better? Yes but...
...next pass attempt Diggs dropped. Next drop back the OL missed the blitz and cousins got sacked. There was mayyybe one that either cousins missed or Bebe ran the route slightly too deep so he was late/or cousins overthrew him. That’s really only the other incomplete I could...
...on Cousins. After that, Bebe screwed up the same route he screwed up last week, then cousins was sacked. Only slightly cousins fault. Thielen is usually his “out” guy but he didn’t have him. Next pass attempt was a screen pass that Suggs broke up and the D was ready for it...
I am watching yesterday’s Cards & Vikes game b/c I know the stats were ugly for our starters & I wanted to see for myself. I have been happy w/ Cousins so far this preseason & I have to say I don’t find yesterday that concerning. Cousins overthrew diggs yes-That was 100%...
As part of his four-year extension, Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph received a $7.25M signing bonus and his base salary for 2019 dropped from $7.625M to $1.75M (guaranteed), per source. This move creates $4.175M in cap space for Minnesota & gives Rudolph the long-term security he craved.
Thanks for the heads up @SLPKlubber This surprises me. I honestly thought he would do almost anything to stay. He is so active at University of Minnesota Children’s hospital I can’t imagine him leaving that. @KyleRudolph82
The #Vikings had held active extension talks with veteran TE Kyle Rudolph, but those broke off this morning, sources say. With Minnesota drafting TE Irv Smith and Rudolph due $7.5M, this development could lead to a trade elsewhere. There is interest around the NFL.
@SLPKlubber Kline will stick to guard. I think Elflein and Bradbury will line up with whatever seems to work best. I’m thinking they’ll let Bradbury stick to what feels more comfortable and Elflein will take guard spot
I’m also excited about Dru Samia as long as Kline, Elflein, and Bradbury can hold down the interior while Samia gets bigger and stronger. He has a couple things to work on technically but nothing major IMO. He definitely needs to get stronger though before he can contribute...
...looking at but “we failed to get the job done”. I would love to know if that is who we were going for. I think we need a physically gifted player with raw talent at DE so we can mold him into what we need for the future. That was my ideal pick for 4/5th round so Smith is...
I might also be a little salty about the Cameron Smith pick because I really wanted us to land Omenihu. The Texans picked him right before we went on the clock. Vikes had been talking with him around pro day & Spielman admitted to trying to trade up to get a DE that they were...
I am not excited about Cameron Smith. I think he would do fine as a back up but we already have that in Gedeon(who I am a big fan of). I think Smith is smart, is driven, has good technique but he has maxed out his frame and therefore doesn’t have much he can...
...I watched some film (mostly highlights so it’s biased) but he pulls & gets to the 2nd level beautifully & he is good at identifying a late blitz. I read that he played tackle freshman year so I’m curious to see if the Vikings play around with that at all if we get desperate.
