With 2 weeks to go it’s already the sunniest year on record for the UK (115 years of records).
Looks like higher pressure over the remainder of 2025 may well add to the record too.
My thoughts are with everyone on the receiving end of the heavy rain in the Northwest.
If you haven't taken moves to move your treasured possessions out of harms way, now is the time to do so!
In the UK, winters are getting wetter as rainfall is becoming more intense and we’re seeing more extreme #weather events. These changes are already affecting #flood risk and that’s something we can’t ignore. 🌊

10 years since #StormDesmond: a severe storm with record breaking amounts of rainfall🌧️
The #storm was the most destructive in Cumbria and Lancashire which saw over 5,200 properties flooded, and many more properties had to be evacuated.

Low pressure is set to push across the UK this Saturday, but uncertainty remains on the track
Depending on its exact movement, different regions have the potential to see heavy rain, strong winds or even hill snow ☔🌬️🌨️

The Lake District is known for rain but it's been very wet recently, even for here. 319 mm of rain has fallen at Honister in 42 hours to 1500 today, 100mm+ more widely.
Further rain in the coming hours may prolong flooding of a few roads and poor driving conditions 🌧️
There is a @metoffice Weather Warning in place covering much of #Cumbria.
The warning is in place through Tuesday early morning from 00:00 until 11:00.
🚌🚗Disruption to bus and train services is expected, along with possible road flooding and spray making driving conditions difficult

⚠️ There are 13 flood alerts and 1 flood warning issued across the North West.
🌊Many river levels have been rising overnight and into this morning.
❗Remember, you should never drive through floodwater. Just 30cm of flowing water is enough to move your vehicle.
