In a better world, on October 8, the UN Secretary General, the head of the International Red Cross and other luminaries would have stationed themselves on the Egyptian border with Gaza demanding the full, immediate and unconditional release of all the kidnapped hostages, insisting that Israel owes absolutely nothing to Hamas for the release of children, mothers, the elderly, and civilians because there is no world in which such acts are OK. Israel is forced to negotiate with the twisted leaders of Hamas for our children only because so many people in official and non official positions of power failed to do their job and normalized the idea that kidnapping children from their beds and keeping them as bargaining chips is somehow a legitimate act that leads to negotiations rather than to stringent condemnation and global ostracism.
Stop calling it a 'hostage exchange.'
The hostages being freed in the coming days are children whose only "crime" was to be Jews living in Israel.
Many of the prisoners being released are in jail for trying to murder Jews living in Israel.
This is no fair exchange. But it's the price Israel will pay to have its children back.
@NokhaDakroub@fordnation@gghamari Well thank you for introducing me to @gghamari - the very first progressive conservative that I’m happy to follow. You on the other hand, your tweet is just so passive aggressive and I’m not sure how you made it into my feed. But please show yourself out.
Today’s Canadian “progressives” are rightly outraged when conservative politicians hang out with far-right figures from abroad. Where is the outrage when progressive politicians hang out with similarly appalling individuals? #HypocrisyInAction
I was #NDP/#ONDP member for 25+ yrs. In 2016, I quit over policy differences w/ ex provincial leader. Today, I’m telling you: @MaritStiles leadership is best thing to happen to ONDP in a long time. She is doing GREAT job leading fight against Ford govt. #IStandWithMarit#onpoli
It needs to be said: @MaritStiles has done excellent job holding Ford govt feet to fire. Too bad members of her caucus keep creating self-destroying distractions. If #ONDP is to win in ‘26, there must be caucus discipline and laser-like focus on fighting Ford. #Ontario#onpoli
the #NDP@SarahJama_ and her original comments are highly offensive. But so are the #PC attacks against her. Dear @fordnation and the like, Please don’t come to my defence over my Jewishness when you continue to attack me for being queer, for being a teacher etc #onpoli
Hint: If you worry less about what gay and trans people do in public and worry more about what YOU do in public, everyone will be better off, yourself included.
Canada’s two largest metros, Toronto and Montreal, see six trains per day in each direction that take a little more than five hours. Madrid and Barcelona are the same distance and see 35 trains per day each way, taking as little as 2 hours and 30 minutes. Canada deserves better.
Hey @BlueJays. My father-in-law Lorne is an avid fan. He’s in palliative care but we managed to get him to a game in late August. As you might well imagine, your playoff run means a lot to him. So, let’s win it for Lorne! 🙏 #NextLevel#LetsGoBlueJays
Metroland’s demise devastating for local news & those covering it. While still in university, I spent two wonderful summers writing sports at the Georgetown Independent & Acton Free Press. I’ll always treasure the memories. My sympathies to the great journalists now out of work.
I’ll bet at least half these trained seals lose their seats next election. Most disappointed in (and embarrassed for) @LaurieScottPC who should know better than to simply do what the corrupt Premier demands. #onpoli#ontario
It’s good news that Steve Clark has resigned due to the brown envelopes, Mr. X, Phoenix Kiss and the giving away of precious Greenbelt land.
But we could have just as easily called for his resignation as a result of his failure to deliver new housing in Ontario.
Under his watch, only 3 of 55 recommendations to drive new housing supply have been implemented. This was his taskforce - this was literally his work plan. This is where he should have been spending 100% of his time.
These recommendations were the job, not the back room deals with individuals. That was never the job.
We are in a housing crisis. We don’t have time for the boys to be smoking their cigars and playing with their friends at invite-only random Stag and Doe’s while the crisis deepens.
We need leaders focused on the task.
“What we do know is that they have a $22 billion surplus. They have more than enough money to commit to the system to meet these system needs. We shouldn’t have gone over a year without a contract,” said @ETFOpresident.
Brown says that the requests union members are making are reasonable and that the changes will enhance student learning and create better working conditions for staff. #onted

@CallMeJulius Or they disregard the value statements because they themselves are transphobic. I had a colleague, now admin, state very clearly she didn’t want teachers teaching her children that it’s okay to be gay. Pretty sure she feels the same way about trans issues.
Lecce says he's disappointed with EFTO's decision | https://t.co/cTASFK7UDt…
ETFO has not left the table, nor have they suggested they are leaving! They’ve been at the table waiting for you and your team to actually negotiate!!! https://t.co/c8BWMFTFt4
Steve Clark is a hypocrite. He demanded the resignations of Liberal ministers when they were accused of corruption. Pot who called the kettle black doesn’t believe he owes Ontarians any accountability, even while under investigation.
Clark should resign. Take Ford with him.
Morning!
Reminder: no matter what dog and pony show press conferences @fordnation may try to drown ON in remember:
This govt gave 8.3 BILLION dollars to their friends behind YOUR back! All while many folks can't manage cost of rent, food or even meds.
Beware of red herrings.
