“In a healthcare system that’s driven by capitalism and where your value is put in how much you work and how much money you produce, where’s the value on #selfcare?”
@_TaylorGoyette from @MassGenBrigham
And you also don’t understand that your question should be, “How could the police have apprehended him without killing him?”
Because a badge shouldn’t be a license to kill.
If your response to the death of a 20 year-old Black man, who was pulled over by police for an air freshener violation, is “he should have complied,” you don’t understand the fear that Daunte was likely feeling in his encounter with police 10 miles from the Derek Chauvin trial.
This is why:
-we march 👊🏾
-we say #DefundThePolice
-we name white supremacy, patriarchy and capitalism
-we fight to make all of our systems and institutions racially equitable
Thread on @JAMA_current: (JAMA has complete editorial independence from AMA so this would not come to me or my team for review) The podcast/tweet are/were wrong, absolutely appalling & at its very core is a demonstration of structural & institutional racism. I am furious. 1/
Betsy DeVos has never done her job to help America’s students. It doesn’t surprise me one bit that she’d rather quit than do her job to help invoke the 25th Amendment.
Good riddance, Betsy. You were the worst Secretary of Education ever. https://t.co/im1IgGQVSp
48 hours have gone by since a white supremacist mob attacked the US Capitol at the direction of the Occupant of the White House.
Every hour that passes without consequence sets a dangerous precedent for democracy.
Impeach now.
