@Marisa_Ingemi Thanks! I got into the U20s because of the multiple Reign players on the team. Now I'm sitting in the stands at Audi Field and was wondering where she was ha
NYCFC ADVANCE AFTER AN INSANE PENALTY SHOOTOUT!!!
NYCFC to "host" New York Red Bulls in the next round.
Where will it be played? Could it possibly be Red Bull Arena?
If 1.1% of voters (175,000) across the 3 blue wall states had chosen Harris over Trump, she would be President.
I get that Trump won but this isn’t a “blowout” or a “landslide” and it’s certainly not a mandate.
1.1% across 3 states is all it was.
A couple of things, as I see them:
1.) Trump won by a lot in a lot of places. That's just what happened. There was not one singular reason, not one neat trick, just a lot of factors all playing in.
2.) There are no eternal victories in politics. Trump has widened the GOP tent to such an extent that there are people who voted for him for precisely contrasting reasons and it'll be... something to see how all that works out (to wit: https://t.co/GyZguNzchU)
3.) I grew up in a swing state that turned red. A thing I learned from that is that most people don't agree with me or share my politics. It is useful to remember that more generally. "If only x had done y" is based on your understanding of both x and y, and that can be and is often wrong.
4.) I am going to be posting here less, and generally just about sports. I've been on this platform for sixteen years and I think that it has changed me in ways both good and bad. I also think that it has not proved to be helpful in understanding... anything.
5.) My mom is dying of ALS. She had a feeding tube installed last week but there was a problem and it was very, very scary. Being alive is good. Finding an interior life that you can protect is even better.
6.) There are people on here who will find deep validation of the stuff they already think in the results from yesterday. I think that is generally not how to think about politics.
7.) Culture wars are unwinnable and unloseable. The people who seem gleeful right now will become enraged in ten seconds because someone is going to do something they don't like somewhere. Performative outrage is a performance, but for some people now it is their life. Sad!
8.) Go Blue still means Go the University of Michigan.
Biden acquiesced to essentially every left-wing demand during his administration.
The idea that working class voters want what the left-wing is offering flies in the face of all the evidence over the past 8 years.
I turned this thread about what will happen to D.C. under the possible full Republican control of Washington into a story for @51stnews: https://t.co/Mf3n6tuv0D
this one will stick with me. what did it get you? equivocating on protecting people, leaving it up to the states. it didn’t even work on the cynical power struggle level. for what? to get completely fucking destroyed anyway.
Clallam County, considered the nation's last true bellwether county that's picked the president since 1980, is currently leaning toward Harris.

It is so disheartening to see so many jokes be made about what a horrible state Florida is, or jokes about any predominantly red states. There are so many of us who live in these states that will experience the ramifications of policies a government we voted against put in place
There are 100,000 Palestinians - men, women, children - in northern Gaza, but as the world's eyes are glued to the US elections, the Israeli army is saying only a few hundred of them are civilians.
