@JoshYohe_PGH absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing indictment on modern society. and i love sports. but this is a mockery of the difficult economic reality most are facing right now.
One thing I'll give Vegas credit for is nothing increases interest in any kind of sporting matchup more than an unlikeable heel that you want to see lose and they've certainly become one on multiple organizational levels
@projectxhockey@HFTVSports@yyzsportsmedia Canadiens are definitely showing themselves to be a quality organization that’s for sure. the future is very bright for you guys.
@projectxhockey@HFTVSports@yyzsportsmedia cool i guess we’re all happy because we love Knies and he looks better in blue & white. would have been awfully dispiriting to see him in a Habs uniform at 23 years old. i can’t believe this almost happened what heresy.
So Habs add Dobson at age 25 and wanted to add 23 year-old Knies not long after making the playoffs. Yes, cost would be big, but you get young, really good players that can stay with you for years and be apart of your core.
Why were Leafs never doing this? Our 2nd year in the playoffs we paid a 2nd for Tomas Plekanec..Before that Boyle, after that Foligno, Lybushkin, Edmondson.
WTF were we doing?
THAT is a massive issue with the Leafs that quite franckly, is rarely spoken about.
"The probability is we take the pick."
John Chayka reveals that the Leafs are more likely to use the No. 1 overall pick at the NHL Draft than to trade it.
John Chayka on Auston Matthews:
"We’ve had several conversations with him & his representatives & what I saw was a happy captain. Someone who’s got a lot of pride to be the captain of the Leafs. Someone who wants to win in Toronto, which aligns with how we’re thinking about it"
The Knies trade is great context for why Matthews was questioning his future. Your season gets ended by a knee on knee where no one stands up for you and the GM is trading one of the best young players to your rival for futures.
No wonder he was asking for new direction
Today’s news has me thinking 2 things.
1. Brad Treliving is a fucking idiot.
2. Brendan Shanahan is a fucking idiot for hiring him.
3. I legitimately wonder what the team would look like had Dubas been allowed to actually do what he wanted to.
it was BRENDAN SHANAHAN this whole time
clear now that Shanahan is an obtuse power hungry moron
dude was blocking Sundin from joining the brain trust for years
and then threw a hissy and fired Dubas when he asked for more autonomy, and hired Treliving to be his yes man
KEITH PELLEY IS THE MAN
fired Shanahan, fired Treliving, stepped into stop this stupid deal …
forgive me for being so critical, Keith
you’re a real Leafs fan, you do care about this team and i severely misjudged you, sweet prince
also clear that Dubas was not the issue …
@mikeystephens81 Maturing is realizing that Pelley suddenly being “too involved” at the deadline was actually just delaying this shit deal until it was too late. He was never the issue, he was the saviour 🫡
