@jennifer_zilla@mrbrianrowe No, it was from Feb 24th, 2026. Ordinarily I’d say this wouldn’t have an impact, but this story has been following him SINCE it happened and his refusal to address it has amplified/overshadowed his “perceived” frontrunner status.
@PhysicsBoyt@jennifer_zilla@mrbrianrowe Yeah, they happened the last week of voting (but a lot of members) wait until the last minute to finalize their votes. Could have an impact if they get a bad taste in their mouth, could also only marginally affect his “perceived” frontrunner status. Timing matters.
@mrbrianrowe Well-deserved. I also loved Sissy Spacek that year. But my heart always wanted Berry to win and when she did I probably cried more than she did (if that’s possible). I’ve rewatched her acceptance speech over the years when my inspiration-meter is running low.
@mrbrianrowe I certainly hope so. It’s a very dynamic performance, physically and emotionally. It deserves recognition no matter people’s take on the film itself (which, I actually quite liked). I’d hate to see it overlooked, but lots of great work from leading actresses this year as a whole
FUN FACT: Each of us who support Kamala are de facto surrogates for her campaign. So we have to have the talking points at the ready to answer questions or criticism about her or her campaign. So here are a few at the ready:
1) She didn’t pass any great things as VP:
@PNemiroff Please tell me you and @joelmeares are going to do a video chat about the @ScreamMovies and the recent fallout with the studio, Melissa, and Jenna. I need someone to virtually grieve with about the future of the franchise. 😭😭😭
@fromhellkitchen@RubyCreated @amreetnat @coffinsnails @TheAcademy If it were everyday people voting for the Oscars (like w/ “People’s Choice”) I’d say Avatar 2 in a heartbeat. This is the Academy Awards, though. They don’t vote for films like Avatar over the others I mentioned for BP to win. I’ve done the research. Avatar wins VFX, not BP
@fromhellkitchen@RubyCreated @amreetnat @coffinsnails @TheAcademy I admire your confidence. I’ll report back March 12th when Avatar 2 loses Best Picture. It’s not even Top 5 to win. Everything Everywhere, The Fabelmans, Banshees, All Quiet, TÁR are in front. Never go with what you WANT to win when betting, go with the patterns of the voters.
