Two hundred and fifty years ago today — on May 17th, 1776 — the Second Continental Congress called for a day of humiliation, fasting, and prayer.
Today, exactly 250 years later, we gather to do the same. To humbly ask once more for God's mercy and guidance — as we enter the next 250 years of this republic.
First, you braved dysentery on the Oregon Trail, and then you had to get a master's degree in global geography just to track down a lady in a red trench coat.
If your childhood was spent toggling between resource management and decoding international travel clues from Acme agents, you were living in the golden age of educational gaming. "Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?" didn't just teach geography; it turned every 90s kid into a international super-sleuth.
Between the unforgettable theme song, the iconic video phone check-ins with The Chief, and the thrill of finally issuing that warrant, this game was elite.
What was your go-to strategy for tracking down Carmen? Did you actually use the physical encyclopedia that came with the game, or were you just guessing your way through the flights?
@sassermac99706@ReubenR80027912 They just don’t have the disposable income. Any they might have gets spent on their pet iguanas.
They donate in other ways, by posting online, pressuring peers to share the content and then attending Red for Ed rallies on the weekend.
30 years ago today, Steve Yzerman scored one of the most iconic goals in Red Wings history as he eliminated the Blues in double OT of Game 7 🚨

Charlevoix, Michigan sits between Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix, where clear water, sailboats, and stone cottages give it a quiet, storybook charm.
A place where summer lingers a little longer and everything feels just a bit slower.

After a tough @detroitredwings last loss last night, not sure many stayed around for the very end of postgame. It was the last ever for FanDuel/Bally/Fox Sports Detroit. This is long but stellar by Jay Tuohey. The faces. The memories of almost 30 years on the air.
I listened to a lot of hockey games on the radio growing up. Most of the time in the car going to and from my own hockey games and practices. There’s a warmth and familiarity to hearing Ken Kal and Paul Woods on the call.
Paul is retiring after a 40 year broadcast career with the Wings, 31 with Ken. A lot of people don't know he also played 500 NHL games and served as the Wings captain for a year (78-79). There are a lot of legends in Hockeytown, and Paul is one of them. Congrats on a great career, enjoy retirement.
