This is what happens when you don’t prioritize the midfield. Always outnumbered, easy to play through in between the lines, no passers in the team. Don’t understand franks “philosophies”
Slightly better team selection from Frank, but Brentford were dreadful. Worst team we have played this year by far. Super happy for Xavi today, but still worrying signs from the team overall with the reliance on crosses.
If you set up with Richarlison being your outlet, this is the result you get. No out ball whatsoever, just trapped in our half. No plan in possession yet again. We always played scared
I thought Frank did well with the substitutions for the first time this season to be honest (except for leaving Brennan on). Good fight from the boys and unlucky to not get +3. Frank needs to be have us be the protagonists at home by playing the 2 10s system with destiny high up.
WHY WOULD WE CHANGE A WINNING FORMULA. Why are we are building up in the 4-2 again with no triangles. No idea why we have to revert to the exact system that didn’t work against Chelsea. Doesn’t even help oop imo, so I have no idea what Frank is doing. 3-2-5 ip with 2 10s pls
Wilson still wants to be a touchline winger, but we need him in that half space. Brennan being a decoy for Xavi in the other half space (wish he was left hs instead). Still need LB cover cause destiny so key to this system. Most excited I’ve been about spurs in years.
Not all the pieces are fit for the puzzle rn but it’s gonna be so effective in its final form. Triangles in possession so good. I trust Frank with the oop balance as well. As long as Frank allows the right profiles in the right positions ip, the quality will shine through.
325 JDP pretty vanilla in 2025 but it’s such a solid base. Sooooo much better in buildup (only against 442 until teams learn to press in a front three). Profiles in our squad almost perfect for it. Nice to see that frank knows how to change to get the best out of a squad
Spurs have played just FOUR through balls this season, the fewest in the Premier League (and just one at home).
By contrast:
Arsenal 38
Man City 31
Man Utd 31
Liverpool 30
Aston Villa 28
C Palace 27
The league average is 18.5
Such a difficult watch today. Really surprised we didn’t revert back to the 3-2 buildup, but quality was just lacking today. Such a low technical ability from the squad that needs to be addressed. Another absolute snoozefest
I would imagine this shapes up as more of a 5-3-2 with Joao dropping in as a cb. Not surprised, but really excited to see kudus up top again alongside a runner in Kolo Muani in the transitions. Biggest battle today oop will be porro 1v1. Hopefully the cover from the 5 will help
Still soooo worried about the way we are playing in possession, but I can’t argue with results. Our only chance creation is through set pieces, but it worked out today
Really enjoyed the team selection today. Was worried about Joao and Rodrigo but just about worked out. Thought Xavi looked lively and picked up good pockets. Happy for tel to get one for his confidence. Odobert was disappointing today but happy to finally go into a break with +3
Happy with the point, but there are some serious issues with our setup and our profiling of players.the midfield especially has no idea what it is or what frank wants from them. The use of Rodrigo at 6 and Lucas at 10 concern me. Many unmarked players on edge of box today as well
That was painful… so low oop that there is no out ball for anybody. When we do finally get the ball no one wants the responsibility, especially Bentancur. His level has dropped so much from the conte days. Johnson and odobert haven’t offered much threat from out wide. So poor
Frank has gotten his subs wrong in every game so far. PSG, Brighton, and today. Moving our best player out of position to make way for Brennan Johnson is the pick of the bunch. Also Bentancur and palhinha will never work together
