If you are a parent to a teen driver, practice driving with them in a variety of situations and road conditions, so they can be prepared for the unexpected when they’re out driving on their own.

[THPJackson @THPJackson]

When the stop arm extends and the lights are flashing, that means the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop and wait until the red lights stop flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving, before you can start driving again.

Drivers under 18 are required to go through graduated steps of driving experience to gain full, unrestricted Driver License status. https://t.co/EClJSZMG2a…

Despite what they may say, your teens are paying attention and you remain their biggest influence, especially since you hold the keys—literally. Before they get behind the wheel, make sure they know the rules for the road. #TeenDriverSafety https://t.co/J2AfUQAunq

Parking lots and crosswalks are the most common shared spaces for drivers and pedestrians. Parked cars can easily obstruct pedestrians.

Drivers: When turning, always expect a person. Be prepared to stop.

Pedestrians: Never assume a driver sees you before entering the roadway.

[THPJackson @THPJackson]

Motorcyclists ride year-round, in almost any weather. They take up less space on the roadway, and that makes them harder to see in your mirrors and blind spots. #LookTwice when shifting lanes, merging, or turning to share the road and keep them safe! https://t.co/lYrb78Bgrh

[THPJackson @THPJackson]

Let’s all do our part to keep pedestrians safe—stay alert, slow down, and share the road responsibly. For more info on Non-Motorist Crashes, visit: https://t.co/0TtJSgwpke #DriveSafeTN #DriveAlertWalkAware

[THPJackson @THPJackson]

Your good choices behind the wheel impact not only yourself and your passengers, but also everyone else on the road. Behind the wheel, are you…

🚗 Paying attention?
🚗 Looking out for pedestrians?
🚗 Obeying the speed limit?

Next week is Teen Driver Safety Week.
