AOF3R’s beta peaked at just 86 concurrent players on Steam.
That is actually higher than RB2 (69), World Heroes Perfect (46), Ninja Master’s (22) and Kizuna Encounter (21) — but considering the beta was free, you would have expected a much wider gap.
Bringing Art of Fighting back after 30 years was always going to be difficult, and leaving the two brand-new characters out of the beta probably did not help either.
Too early to judge its commercial potential, but as a first popularity indicator, the numbers are not very encouraging.

AOF3 R’s beta starts today. A few things from the current beta build:
_ Yuri and King are not available to play.
_ The character select screen only displays static character portraits.
_ I have had the original Japanese AOF3 title screen appear, before switching to the new AOF3 R start screen during one session.
_ The developer behind AOF3 R is RENGAME.
RENGAME is an Osaka-based Japanese studio founded in 2024 and headed by Masato Fujita. The company states that former SNK members form the core of its team, alongside experienced specialists and younger developers in their 20s, combining veteran expertise with a new generation of creators.
That makes their involvement in a project like Art of Fighting 3 R particularly interesting.
