THS Historians from Years 10 and 12 visited the Chalke Valley History Festival yesterday. History, knights, tanks, falcons, ice-cream. What's not to like?
Amazing Nazi Germany homework projects by 9AB. Well done and very wise words on one of the projects "we must keep teaching this subject to prevent it from EVER happening again." Part 1
After one final visit to the Berlin Olympic Stadium we are back in the UK and on our way home. We've had a fantastic time away with a truly wonderful group of students. They've definitely done @THSsixthform and @thomashardye proud.
Day 4 @THSsixthform History students had a thought provoking morning at Sachsenhausen concentration camp followed by a stop at platform 17 which is where Jews from Berlin were deported from to various Nazi concentration and extermination camps.
Day 3 on the @THSsixthform trip was a busy one. Topography of terror, Jewish memorial, memorial to homosexual victims of Nazism, Brandenburg Gate, TV Tower, Reichstag, Soviet war memorial, traditional German dinner, and an evening visit to Postdamer Platz.
Wrapping things up at the end of a fantastic (but exhausting) first day. After leaving school at 1am @THSsixthform historians have explored the Jewish quarter of eastern Berlin, heard the tale of Otto Weidt, walked a stretch of the Berlin Wall and devoured a buffet! #BerlinTrip
I learned today that during the Easter Rising of 1916 in Dublin, a brief ceasefire was agreed on St Stephen's Green so that the park-keeper could go in to feed the ducks.
