That doesn’t sit right with me.

And let’s be honest, Martinelli still has plenty of football in him. He’s 25 years old. He’s quick, he’s aggressive, he can stretch defenders and when he’s confident, he can be devastating.

If Arsenal sell him to Al-Hilal and he starts scoring goals over there, people will suddenly start asking whether we made a mistake.

I’ve seen this before. You let a good player go, he gets a fresh environment, starts playing regularly and suddenly everyone remembers why they liked him in the first place.

For Martinelli, I hope he gets regular football, confidence and the freedom to play his game.

But for Arsenal? I’m not completely convinced this is the right decision.

Sometimes you improve a squad by signing new players.

Sometimes you improve it by making sure you don’t throw away the good players you already have.”
