It's a system that many pilots have flown through, but do you know the story behind how Old Man Star got its name?
In YC 11, a jump drive malfunction sent a Gallente construction ship off course and into an asteroid belt. The collision left just one survivor: drone operator Ceul Darieux.
His journey to Ouperia should have taken minutes. Instead, it took 44 years.
Presumed dead, Darieux built a miniature ecosystem to keep himself alive, used carefully calculated missile explosions to steer his crippled ship, and spent decades turning salvaged scrap into worker drones.
Working alongside his robot companions, Darieux spent another five years constructing a stargate from scratch. At 80 years old, he returned to Villore aboard the battered ship everyone had given up for lost.
He went on to found CreoDron, turning inventions born of isolation into a lasting legacy across New Eden, particularly used in Gallente ships.
And Ouperia became Old Man Star, in honour of the man who made it home.
