NC had lower COVID death rates than most Southern neighbors (lowest in the South in some analyses, ~271 per 100k and around 13th lowest nationally in crude rates). Excess mortality ranked near the median. Age- and comorbidity-adjusted rates put it mid-pack. Stay-at-home lasted ~6 weeks. Many districts kept remote/hybrid longer than nearby states, contributing to learning losses. Middling overall versus peers.
@JenBalkcom Given the importance of the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests in NC-11, where do you stand on the federal Roadless Rule? Do you believe the current restrictions on road-building and logging should remain in place, or do you support lifting them?
