A mafia operating in ecologically fragile Pahalgam allowing wanton illegal construction of hotels encroaching upon flood channels or Forest land is ill thought & detrimental to Kashmir’s environment already reeling from global warming. Haven’t seen Pahalgam in such a mess before. Please respect Kashmir’s pristine environment
Former Chief Minister of jammu and Kashmir @MehboobaMufti , along with Indian delegates, paid homage to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in Tehran. The delegation offered Salat al-Janazah (funeral prayer) and made dua for the deceased.
An honour for me to be here in Tehran to express my deepest condolences & solidarity on the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei- a revered leader who dared to stand against the tide & fought for the oppressed.
As the J&K LG continues to extend jobs to terror victims, the Chief Minister @OmarAbdullah must also take urgent action on the long-pending SRO-43 and RAS compassionate appointment cases.
Why are 928, SRO-43 cases and 1,279 RAS cases still gathering dust in the @CM_JnK’s General Administration Department? These are not just file numbers—they represent families who have lost their sole breadwinners and now face an uncertain, desperate future.
Under existing provisions, the Chief Minister has the authority to relax rules and clear these cases—just as the @OfficeOfLGJandK recently used special powers to appoint hundreds of terror-affected individuals. Every day of inaction prolongs the suffering of these families and undermines the authority of the elected government, allowing unelected bureaucracy to overshadow J&K’s democratic institutions.
Many of these families lack the means, influence, or resources to navigate the slow and complex bureaucracy. Compassionate appointments were created to provide dignity and survival, not to be buried under procedural delays and technicalities.
It’s high time, @OmarAbdullah.
FYI: @DullooAtal@gadjkut
From Uttarakhand to Ladakh & across the border in Kashmir Gen Z is rising.
Because when your future feels bleak & your dreams are shattered - resistance knows no borders. These are young people who toiled for a future studied hard, followed every rule and held on to a ray of hope.
But now they see the promise of that future slipping away. They aren’t just protesting. They are confronting power with raw truth because the very system they were told to believe in has failed them catastrophically.
This isn’t just noise. It’s heartbreak turning into resistance. This is not a rebellion but a cry for survival. They are not asking anymore. They are demanding what’s rightfully theirs - Accountability. Justice. Opportunity. Dignity.
It’s a wake up call for our country India, and even neighbouring Pakistan.
Shocking reports from Central University of Kashmir point to lawlessness, nepotism, and academic decline. The institution is allegedly being run like a personal enterprise flouting rules, norms & governance protocols.
This threatens the future of students in J&K .
Request
@dpradhanbjp@EduMinOfIndia to take note and order an urgent impartial inquiry.
Overawed by the indefatigable zeal of Kishtwar’s youth, our interaction was invigorating & replete with promise, as they stand profoundly influenced by the visionary ideology of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed & the unwavering leadership of @MehboobaMufti ji.
Today, I had a meaningful interaction with the newly appointed @YouthJKPDP office bearers from the Valley. Growth comes through constant learning and the exchange was enriching for all of us. Youth has always been synonymous with the @jkpdp and together we pledge to carry forward this journey with renewed energy and commitment.
@MehboobaMufti
I’ve written to Shri Amit Shah ji to view Yasin Malik’s case through a humanitarian lens. While I differ with his political ideology, one cannot ignore the courage it took him to renounce violence and choose the path of political engagement and non violent dissent .
The decision to place the political leadership under house arrest today, simply to stop us from visiting Sopore to offer condolences on the demise of Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, lays bare the harsh and undemocratic reality in Jammu and Kashmir.
What unfolded at Hazratbal Dargah the eruption of spontaneous, raw public anger was not just an isolated incident. It was a loud, unmistakable message from a people pushed to the edge. The BJP however remains willfully blind to this truth refusing to learn anything from the deep anguish and suppressed emotions that have been building for years now .
It is becoming increasingly clear that the BJP has no interest in peace or healing in Kashmir. Instead, they seem determined to keep the region in a constant state of turmoil weaponising pain and unrest for political mileage across the rest of the country. This cynical approach is not just irresponsible; it is dangerous and utterly reprehensible.
News from Doda is deeply disturbing. An internet blackout has been imposed, schools have been shut and a curfew enforced. Alarming reports suggest that roads are being deliberately blocked depriving people of their fundamental right to movement. This heavy-handed bureaucratic response is not just authoritarian it strikes at the very core of democratic values.
The Chief Minister @OmarAbdullah must urgently visit Doda to assess the ground situation firsthand and take immediate steps to provide relief to the people.
Under Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s government South Kashmir saw major developments including the establishment of the Islamic University of Science and Technology, University Campus, a medical college & AIIMS all within a short span.
In contrast despite decades in power NC can’t point to a single comparable project in this region. Their criticism of AIIMS’s location only reflects their indifference and apathy toward South Kashmir.
While NC often chose flood-prone sites to benefit their own people the PDP selected locations based on public interest not political favoritism.
His language largely has been derogatory, but this goes far beyond @MehrajMalikAAP .
The dangerous reality is that the PSA is being shamelessly abused by government officials to showcase their brute power. It’s now crystal clear, the @OfficeOfLGJandK and its minions will bulldoze every constitutional guarantee if people don’t bow and sing their tune.
After being denied to file an FIR against Chairperson Waqf Board in Nigheen Police Station PDP will now approach Hazratbal Police Station. I urge @JmuKmrPolice to initiate an FIR immediately given the gravity of the offence - deliberately hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims thereby provoking them.
It is deeply unfortunate to see the Chief Minister, @OmarAbdullah, turn to politics in the midst of a disaster. During the recent floods, your absence from J&K was glaring. Instead of acknowledging the work that partly saved Kashmir from sinking—unlike in 2014 under your leadership, when the Valley lay devastated and took years to rebuild through a massive reconstruction program you chose to score political points. At a time when protecting affected people should have been the priority, the focus shifted to blame games.
The hard questions remain:
•After the catastrophic 2014 floods, more than 500 crores were allocated for the Flood Mitigation Plan around 350 crores implemented under PDP rule, 200 crores still ongoing. Why were no minister-level reviews conducted to monitor progress when key officials were absent from their posts?
•In 2025, why was a flood-prone Valley left without a Chief Engineer for five long months (Apr–Aug)? Who allowed the Irrigation & Flood Control Department to remain leaderless during a peak crisis?
•Why were CE appointment files already cleared by Cabinet deliberately stalled in the CM Secretariat and Minister’s office? Who benefits when life-and-death decisions are delayed over unrelated bureaucratic issues?
•Why did it take devastating Jammu floods to finally force action? Why were Chief Engineers posted only on 26 Aug, after months of negligence and absence of technical supervision?
•With ample funds available and the situation demanding emergency crisis management, why does the government indulge in blame games instead of taking responsibility? Who will answer for this abdication of duty—the CM, the Minister, or both? Why are key positions across all works departments PHE, Irrigation, Flood, PWD still vacant, knowing the critical importance of these roles during a crisis?
For six years before 2014, Omar Abdullah was in power the Jhelum’s capacity remained at just 31,800 cusecs, and the government took no action.
It was only after 2014 that ₹399 crores were invested, raising the Jhelum’s capacity to 41,000 cusecs—a project his government never even initiated. This is one reason why the city is safe today.
