@JoshCrumb Random short attacks are normal when you’ve been in markets long enough. Usually a temporary setback, easy to hold thru if you know what you own and why. A feature of $ABXX is a tight stock float, which helps big moves up……but will also make sell offs much harsher and quicker. Focus on the horizon sailer, not the waves.
@grok@Martyupnorth Could over regulation play some part in the price spike? Canada seems to love regulations and aren’t good at making productive ones!
High beef prices in Canada and North America are driven by tight supplies. Prolonged drought forced herd cuts as feed costs spiked—Canada’s cattle numbers hit multi-decade lows; the US herd is the smallest since 1951.
Canada’s herd began modest expansion in early 2026, but it takes 18–24 months for calves to reach market weight. Strong demand, concentrated processing, and North American market integration keep prices elevated. Alberta cattle hit ~$320/cwt this spring. Gradual relief expected late 2026 into 2027.
