To all our fans, I am truly sorry.
We left everything on the pitch against Spain, but we fell short. My heart is broken for the team and for France.🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Before the semi-final, France looked like the favourites. But Spain delivered a masterclass in collective football.
Outstanding defensive organization completely neutralized France’s attacking stars, while Spain controlled the game through possession and intelligent movement.
France struggled to create chances, looked second best throughout, and never found their rhythm.
A fully deserved victory for Spain, who showed that in football, the strength of the collective always outweighs individual talent.

If we're rewriting football history now, I have a small suggestion:
I'd like FIFA to rescind the yellow card shown to Michael Ballack in the 2002 World Cup semifinal, the one that ruled him out of the final.
And while we're at it, we might as well replay the final against Brazil.
@OliverKahn I agree. From FIFA’s perspective, I guess they consider Balogun to be a more special, legendary player than Ballack and therefore worthy of different treatment. If that’s the case, then FIFA has reduced itself to nothing more than a comedy act.
@balogun@KingJames To be fair, I know this isn’t really Balogun’s fault. FIFA is to blame. But in 2002, Ballack missed the World Cup final as well. Does Balogun really deserve to be treated as a bigger legend than Ballack?
Geburtstag.
