@ThePOTSPostman My measuring stick is surprise....
usually a year after I last did a comparable activity. The improvement is so slow, Im surprised not to be as tired as I was doing the same thing last year. Hoping it slowly π continues π
@mecfsskeptic Huge level of detail in the Cronometer app if you stick to whole foods with NCCDB codes which have a full profile. Well worth doing if you have the spoons to work out and measure portion size. This is part of the report. Nutrient targets can be tailored if needed.
@angryhacademic Ive got a mental box to put twisted , half true, plausible sounding narrative in, so I can revisit it and pull it to pieces well away from bedtime. Thats if, when I come back to it, I think its worth the spoons . Mental pacing is so hard π«
I'm gobsmacked at the spurious claims on this website. For those who don't know, NICE guidelines in the UK do NOT recommend The Lightning Process. You'd never know from looking at refs to NHS and zero side effects π‘ @angryhacademic Health Alert

@LongCovidAdvoc@AlanLevinovitz@MECFSNews@WIRED My take is that the more time spent in parasympathetic mode the better, for post viral or post vac syndromes. This can take many forms including various "brain training" techniques. Its what works for the individual that counts, regardless of who else it does or doesn't help.
@EricTopol@CellCellPress@ImmunoFever
Some of these findings support the ideas of craniosacral therapy π€
I.e. skull area involved in fluid drainage and the clearance via anatomical routes can be affected by physical methods such as pressure
@angryhacademic It might not treat the underlying cause, but alleviating any stressors can help your body cope better and reduce symptoms elsewhere. Here's to continuing improved sleep π΄
@ABrokenBattery@ChronicLiving1@oonagh_cousins Meanwhile Nuffield is promoting this. I hope they screen for PEM, but they should mention the free programme isnt suitable for everyone in the advert.
@chydorina Its so hard when progess is incredibly slow and not linear. Im getting more function by being persistent with the basics. Micro pacing (Visible), nutrition (Cronometer which Ive adjusted to optimum not minimum targets) and staying in parasympathetic mode (breathing etc)
@SGRodriques For anyone in the AI - where will it all end mode π±, I can recommend some great documentaries on BBC iplayer by Dr Hannah Fry, who explains to us non mathematicians how it works, how good and bad AI can be in different applications and examples of the human consequences .
@angryhacademic The loss of smell is linked to a few neurological conditions. Parkinsons, MS, Huntingdons. Chewing gum has helped with other symptoms but not smell. My best guess is that once the root cause has gone ie virus , the brain will adapt when given a suitable stimulus.
@angryhacademic Anyone want to do a PhD on recent frauds, I mean Freud's π§π€ͺ
Theres plenty of anecdotal information out there ....don't forgot the chapter on reframing so it doesn't sound like they are reiterating discredited texts, in order to maintain their hysteria
@angryhacademic We only ever see representatives of the Reform party when they want our vote.
My vote went to our local specialists who let us know what they are achieving for us all year. They got in βοΈ
Our current MP and party just goes round chatting to the locals and not much else.
@JackHadfield14 Some supplement companies are starting to employ the front headlines not reflecting nutritional back panel tactics used by the food industry. Horbaach Resveratrol only contains 185.5mg not the 1800mg you might think on first glance.
@DrRebeccaRyan Won't a top and bottom examination that includes clearing out everything so the camera can see, remove any faecal loading anyway? Would this procedure rule out some types of diarrhoea?
@angryhacademic I think there's a lot in sports performance science that might be helpful for reducing symptoms in ME/CFS Im thinking personalised nutrition (different depending on body demand), over-training recovery plans, lactic acid build up issues, de-stress techniques, sleep hygiene etc
@angryhacademic But how its reported and who decides its poor service will be crucial. If funding might be withdrawn, there's even more incentive not to look too closely.
