আনন্দবাজারের কি বিন্দুমাত্র লজ্জাও নেই ? সোহরাওয়ার্দি এভিনিউ-এর নাম পরিবর্তনের সমালোচনা করতে গিয়ে কাগজ ডাঃ হাসান সোহরাওয়ার্দিকে প্রশংসা করে গাছে তুলে দিয়েছে ! বাস্তবে ডাঃ সোহরাওয়ার্দি ছিলেন ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়ান রেলওয়ের একজন ডাক্তার, এবং তাঁর সঙ্গে শিক্ষাজগতের কোনো সম্পর্ক ছিল না - তাকে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য করা হয়েছিল শুধু সেরকম যুতের কোন মুসলমান পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না বলে। আরো তিনজন সোহরাওয়ার্দি ছিলেন - বিচারপতি জাহিদুর রহমান জাহিদ সোহরাওয়ার্দি, কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তুলনামূলক শিল্পকলার বাগীশ্বরী অধ্যাপক আর এক হাসান সোহরাওয়ার্দি, এবং সবশেষে কলকাতার দাঙ্গার খলনায়ক হুসেন শহীদ সোহরাওয়ার্দি। কিন্তু যেহেতু এদের মধ্যে শেষোক্তটিই কুখ্যাততম, তাই সোহরাওয়ার্দি নামটিই বিষাক্ত, এবং এটি মুছে দিয়ে উচিত কাজই করা হয়েছে।

সেই সঙ্গে ছেচল্লিশের দাঙ্গার সময় হিন্দুদের অন্যতম পরিত্রাণকারী গোপাল মুখোপাধ্যায় ওরফে গোপাল পাঁঠার সম্বন্ধে আনন্দবাজার যে সব ব্যাঁকা ব্যাঁকা কথা বলেছে তা শুধু মিথ্যা নয়, এক কথায়, ঘৃণ্য আচরণ। মনে হচ্ছে তৃণমূল সরকারের কিছু মোল্লাপ্রেমিক আনন্দবাজারে আশ্রয় পেয়েছে। অবাক হবার কিছু নেই। হাঁত মে বিড়ি, মুহ মে পান / লড়কে লেঙ্গে পাকিস্তান।

সোহরাওয়ার্দী এভিনিউ-এর নাম পরিবর্তন করে গোপাল মুখার্জি রোড করার ফলে মহম্মদ সেলিম প্রত্যাশিতভাবেই চিড়বিড়িয়ে উঠেছে এবং আলিমুদ্দিন স্ট্রিটের মুজফ্ফর হোসেন ভবন থেকে মোল্লাসুলভ নিষ্ফল রাগ প্রকাশ করেছে।

রাস্তার নামকরণ যে হয়েছিল ডাঃ হাসান সোহরাওয়ার্দীর নামে, কলকাতার দাঙ্গার পিশাচ হুসেন শহীদ সোহরাওয়ার্দীর নামে নয়, সেটা আমি আলিমুদ্দিনের প্রেস রিলিজের আগেই X-হ্যান্ডলে পোস্ট করেছিলাম।ডাঃ হাসান সোহরাওয়ার্দীর শিক্ষা ও জনজীবনে বিন্দুমাত্র অবদান নেই, তিনি ‘স্যার'ও ছিলেন না। তিনি ছিলেন এক রেলের ডাক্তার । তাঁকে কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যায়ের উপাচার্য করা হয়েছিল ঠিক সেরকম যুতের মুসলমান আর কারোকে পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না বলে। @cpimspeak

গতকাল আবারও দেখা হলো ভারতের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী @narendramodi মহাশয়ের সঙ্গে। তাকে যতবার কাছ থেকে দেখার সুযোগ পেয়েছি, ততবারই যেন নতুন করে মুগ্ধ হয়েছি। তার ব্যক্তিত্বের মধ্যে এমন এক আকর্ষণ ও গভীরতা রয়েছে, যা ভাষায় সম্পূর্ণভাবে প্রকাশ করা কঠিন। বিশেষ করে তার চোখের দিকে বেশিক্ষণ তাকিয়ে থাকা যায় না—সেখানে যেন এক অদম্য আত্মবিশ্বাস, অসীম দৃঢ়তা এবং দেশের প্রতি নিবেদিত এক বিরল সংকল্পের প্রতিফলন দেখা যায়।

প্রতিবারই মনে হয়, তাকে দু-একটি কথা বলব, নিজের অনুভূতির কিছু অংশ জানাব। কিন্তু সামনে গিয়ে আর কিছুই বলা হয়ে ওঠে না। কথাগুলো যেন মনের মধ্যেই আটকে থাকে, কণ্ঠস্বর হারিয়ে যায়। হয়তো গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসা থেকে এমনটাই হয়।

ব্যক্তিগতভাবে তাকে কখনোই একজন সাধারণ মানুষ বলে মনে হয়নি। তার কর্মনিষ্ঠা, অধ্যবসায়, আত্মনিবেদন এবং নিরলস পরিশ্রম আমাকে বারবার বিস্মিত করে। মনে হয়, অসাধারণ মানসিক শক্তি, বিরল নেতৃত্বগুণ এবং সৃষ্টিকর্তার বিশেষ আশীর্বাদ ছাড়া এমন কর্মযোগী জীবন সম্ভব নয়।

তিনি শুধু দেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী নন, কোটি কোটি ভারতবাসীর অনুপ্রেরণা, আশা ও গর্বের প্রতীক। তাকে যতবার দেখি, ততবারই নিজের কাছে একটি কথাই ফিরে আসে—কথা কম, কাজ বেশি। দেশের জন্য, মানুষের জন্য, নিজের দায়িত্বের জন্য নীরবে, নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে কাজ করে যাওয়াই সবচেয়ে বড় সাধনা।

আমাদের প্রধানমন্ত্রী আমাদের গর্ব। তার সঙ্গে প্রতিটি সাক্ষাৎ আমাকে নতুন উদ্যম দেয়, নতুন করে দায়িত্ববোধ জাগিয়ে তোলে এবং মনে করিয়ে দেয়—নিষ্ঠা, পরিশ্রম ও দেশসেবার কোনো বিকল্প নেই।
