Taking it back to our TLCOM Brand Launch Mixer in Lagos, where we gathered with founders and friends to unveil our new brand.
This milestone marked the remarkable maturity of the ecosystem. Just as capital compounds, so does everything else around it, from operator experience and institutional memory, to the collective confidence to build at a scale that will endure.
Thank you to all who joined us, and cheers to the next decade of venture.
Thank you to Allan Cunningham and Africa Capital Digest for an incredible partnership on the Meridian Africa Digital Dialogues and for a truly spirited, and fun, co-moderation yesterday. We had our largest audience to-date, and 85% of attendees went the hour-plus distance with us—proving just how vital the conversation surrounding the future of the continent’s capital markets truly is.
We brought together an All-Star panel to dive deep into where African private markets and capital mobilization are headed: Maurizio Caio (@TLCOMCapital) on early-stage investing and the rising quality of African tech founders. David Kornik (@vantagemarkets) on the niche growth of mezzanine financing and managing macro risks. Mohammed Usman Abdul-Razaq (@africa_finance) on de-risking mega-infrastructure projects, including the historic financial close of the Lobito Atlantic Rail. Christopher Chijiutomi (@BritishIntInv) on BII’s 5-year strategy to mobilize £9 billion and prioritize local capital matching. Thomas Sheehy (@KRLintl) providing critical insights on the shifting priorities of Western DFIs like the @DFCgov.

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint.”
As we unveil our new identity, we’re reflecting on over a decade of deploying capital across Africa and what it has shown us: that discipline in execution matters much more than the speed of it.
We see how this ecosystem keeps compounding in talent, infrastructure, and outcomes. That compound growth is why we back founders building globally relevant companies out of Africa.
This rebrand was our chance to step back and reaffirm who we are as we build for what’s next.
Africa is compounding; the ecosystem’s capabilities are beginning to reinforce one another. At TLCOM, we believe that interaction will define the next decade of venture on the continent.
A new look for TLCOM. More than a decade of the same long game.
Last night, we unveiled our new brand with friends and partners across the ecosystem, the people who have built alongside us since day one.
Here’s to the next decade of great partnerships, strong returns and real value creation across Nigeria and Africa.
The session highlighted a critical structural need: Africa requires more multistage funds and late-stage VC specialists to bridge the transition to PE-readiness.
1. VCs define profitability by the scalability of the business model.
2. PEs define it by current EBITDA.
3. The Ecosystem requires a bridge that understands both.
If we are to unlock the full potential of African late-stage companies, LPs must prioritize funds that can follow their winners from Seed to Series B and beyond.

PE & VC are often viewed as two sides of the same coin. In reality, they speak different languages when it comes to "profitability" and "growth."
@maurizio_caio joined the @AVCA_Africa PE-VC Continuum panel on Strengthening Africa’s Growth Capital Pipeline alongside Fope Adelowo of @helios_invest , Khaled Ben Jilani of @AfricInvest_Grp Group, Ibrahim Sagna of SilverbacksHoldings and Adefolarin Ogunsanya of DPI, moderated by Hany Assaadof Avanz Capital Egypt.
Taking it back to last week, where we hosted investors, founders & friends for a fun evening on the sidelines of #AVCA2026.
Thanks to everyone who joined us & @4DX for good conversations, food, drinks, and amazing music.
Nairobi delivered.
The African Exit is Not a Passive Event. In the current landscape, hope is not a liquidity strategy.
As highlighted during the AVCA - The African Private Capital Association 2026 Liquidity Panel, the transition from "high-potential startup" to "realized exit" requires more than just growth, it requires architectural precision.

AVCA - The African Private Capital Association returns to Nairobi this April, and we will be on the ground.
As Africa’s leading private capital convening, @AVCA_Africa - The African Private Capital Association 2026 brings together investors managing over $1.5 trillion in assets, with a clear focus: Break the Mold: Reshaping the Future of African Private Capital.
Two conversations we are contributing to:
Friday, 30 April | 12:00 PM
Our Managing Partner @maurizio_caio joins a cross-stage panel on the VC–PE Continuum; unpacking how transitions from venture to private equity are becoming essential to scale companies and sustain deal flow.
Monday, 27 April | 4:00 PM
Our Partner @AMuforo moderates a session on Liquidity Without Listings; a grounded look at why African VC needs exit pathways beyond IPOs and unicorn-led narratives.
Why these matter
Q1 VC data signals a structural shift in the market: $700M deployed, with capital stacks increasingly blending equity and debt. The model is changing, and so is what “fundable” looks like.
Join us at the Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill from April 27–30 and connect with the TLCOM team: Eloho Omame, Philippe Griffiths, Cyril Shonibare, Daisy Liech, and CPA. Felister Njeru, MSc.

The climate risk no one has priced: 33 million smallholder farms that feed 70% of Africa. Few legacy insurers have the data infrastructure to price risk at the base of Africa's agricultural pyramid. The gap is structural. The opportunity is monopoly economics.
Enter @AdvisorsPula , founded by @njerutom and @rosegos , which is an embedded parametric insurance solution that serves aggregators, supporting millions of smallholders across Africa, and beyond.
The infrastructure scarcity creates a defensible advantage.
We sat down with @njerutom , who shared his story, the journey and the lessons learned as they underwrite Africa's food security as a systemic imperative.
