The problem is that our religious aspect thats always been entwined in our cultural identity was hollowed out for sake of not offending other religions. As our schools, hospitals, prisons always had the Christian principles clear and upfront, with chaplains, Sunday schools and prays in assembly.
It underpinned everything so even those who went to church just for weddings funerals christening, and after pub on Christmas eve for midnight mass, suddenly made to feel that they weren't Christian at all
