@drobafemihamzat The Ikorodu- Itoikin road was built in 1975, since then, no major rehab has been done, just patch work.
Agbowa to Ikorodu should be a 30 minute drive..
Is Ikorodu axis part of Lagos state? we feel like an orphaned child… Good road network opens development
In 2011, when Lagos experienced one of its worst floods under Fashola after a single day of heavy rainfall, he declared a public holiday and closed schools to protect children.
Now, it has been raining for almost two weeks, and many communities, especially on the island, are flooded, with residents trapped in their homes. While some of the flooding is due to poorly planned developments without proper drainage, leadership still matters.
Under Fashola, I cannot imagine the Ministry of Environment simply posting weather forecasts and talking about climate change while people were stranded.
There would have been LASEMA, flood control teams, and Ministry of Environment officials on the streets, actively clearing drains, opening blocked canals, and helping residents.
More importantly, Fashola's administration always cleared major drains and primary channels well before the rainy season.
They had the drainage network mapped out and carried out routine maintenance.
Indiscriminate waste disposal was also strictly enforced.
Today, many residents living around canals can testify that their canals are blocked, abandoned drainage projects remain unfinished, and people have repeatedly called the government's attention to them without action.
You could not have told Fashola it was climate change when drainage projects had been abandoned or canals had not been cleared.
First, every drainage project would have been completed, tested, and maintained. Only after doing everything possible would climate change become a valid explanation.
That is why leadership matters. Lagos is a high-pressure environment. It does not need a soft leader who accepts excuses.
It needs a leader who demands results, insists that infrastructure works, and holds everyone accountable.
The quality of leadership ultimately determines the outcome.
We will always remember Governor Fashola for his dedication to the service of the people of Lagos.

Governor of Lagos State from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015,
@GRVlagos Our condolences, we pray for the repose of her soul. May the Almighty God continue to protect the family members she left behind. Be strong my brother
The government has sent Public Works to Ozumba Mbadiwe to patch the road instead of giving it to Julius Berger, Craneburg, Lubrik, or any other reputable contractor to fix it once and for all.
With the billions we generate in IGR, we can comfortably construct or comprehensively rehabilitate one major state road every month.
I didn't say every year,I said every month.
In eight years, that would amount to hundreds of kms of major roads across the state, while the government could still build flyovers, bridges, and interchanges.
That is why I keep saying we are being deliberately denied a good road network.
This is not a federal problem; it is a Lagos State problem.
Go and verify my statement.
Even some of the poorest states in Nigeria, with IGRs of just ₦2–₦3 billion, are constructing quality roads. Some Lagosians are richer than some states, yet Lagos is the one without a proper road network.
The painful part is that fixing roads is the most basic responsibility of any government.
Even a decent guy with no connections, no big portfolio, no influence, and no experience attracting investments could still overhaul the road network of Lagos.
He may not build rail lines, seaports, or free trade zones, but he can at least give residents good roads.
Look at Lagos today.
The skyscrapers, high-rise buildings, and beautiful developments are already there.
What is missing is a road network that matches the city.
Good roads would completely transform the appearance of Lagos and bring out its beauty.
This is not a long-standing Lagos problem.
It is a problem of this particular administration.
For reasons I still cannot understand, they have deliberately allowed the roads to deteriorate.
Instead of comprehensive reconstruction, all we see is patching.
We can afford better. One major road every month is achievable with Lagos' revenue.
So why are we still patching roads instead of rebuilding them properly?
I genuinely hope the government explains why we are deliberately denied the quality road network this city deserves by now.🥺

@oyinbos@nwoko_greg62705@50 Ageing gracefully is the goal. The free consultation I’m giving helps to keep high BP, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, arthritis, depression at bay.
😊
@RuggedyBaba Make una continue to pour trash inside gutter!!
Next Environmental, folks should come together and clear and clean the drainage. That’s what’s done in “sane” climes. We should all learn to take personal responsibility
@oyinbos@nwoko_greg62705@50 Lifestyle modification cannot be overemphasized. You don’t have to be a gym rat or vegan. Moderation in all we do, lots of water, take walks/moderate exercise 2-3 times per week, eats lots of cruciferous vegetables with potent anti inflammatory properties
@ARISEtv This sums up one of the reasons corruption is so pervasive among the “elites”, lack of consequences for crimes committed against the state. The koboko should be used across board, not just political opponents
@oyinbos@nwoko_greg62705 Yes, especially when you’re overeating and morbidly obese, drinking too much alcohol, always on the sofa eating junk food and watching tv, no form of exercise..
You get the picture
