When Swedish engineer Nils Bohlin invented the three-point seat-belt today in 1959, Volvo made the patent free for all competitors to use in order to save lives because it had more value as a free life-saving tool than something to profit from.

Every firefighter/EMT/paramedic knows better—but sometimes you just can’t help yourself. You step off the rig, stretch, and mutter, “Hope it’s quiet tonight.”
That’s it. You’ve done it.
Within minutes the insanity begins! Intoxicated patient fell of the curb, multiple fire alarms… at the same facility, another medical, another fire alarm, and you cap off your shift with a nonemergency transport because the patient knows the hospital serves those really good breakfast burritos on Sunday morning. The radio won’t stop. The coffee gets cold. Lesson learned—never tempt the shift gods. Until the next time…
STAY FIRED UP and remember, in many situations, silence is certainly golden: https://t.co/5wY3nIbTvs
Hi, ER Doc, here.
If your nose is bleeding, DO NOT TILT YOUR HEAD BACK. This just makes the blood drip down the back of your throat and you will then swallow and/or choke on it. Pinch the soft part of your nose and TILT YOUR HEAD FORWARD. Please tell all your friends about this.
My kids love Handyman Hal. And I love that he's exploring the tools of the trade that first responders use. It's a great familiarity that kids can have when emergencies do happen
