I am, as always, struck by the unbelievable disconnect between the incredible respect paid to most human remains in this country versus ... this. https://t.co/bMgFObKwNn

Tanya Marsh joins Ben for a conversation about recent developments in the legal-social-political nexus of dead bodies; the controversy surrounding the acquisition and treatment of human remains in American museums and what we’ll simply call “the Harvard morgue case.”
Professor Tanya Marsh (@TMAR22) took her Funeral and Cemetery Law class (the only course of its kind taught in the US) on a field trip to the Salem Moravian Graveyard where they learned about Moravian burial practices.
Looking forward to participating in the FTC Workshop on 9/7/23 which seeks public input on proposed changes to the Funeral Rule. I'll be on a panel with @sarah_calavera & @KatrinaSpade on new forms of death care. It will be livestreamed—check it out! https://t.co/I1UtrYGkaL
Thanks to our @WFULawSchool 1Ls, spending time in the community as Foundations Week wraps up. Proud of you. Get some rest before classes start Monday! #LegalDeacs#ProHumanitate
Cemetery Law-expert Tanya Marsh (@tmar22), who serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and a Professor at Wake Forest Law, was recently quoted in an @latimes article regarding abandoned cemeteries. https://t.co/nQT2x0XkAX
"Death is the ultimate human problem. And we're always gonna have to deal with it," she said. "And so people are just gonna continue innovating and coming up with these new and interesting ways … [to help us process grief."

This is Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Carson. Patrons have been concerned over the cemetery’s fate after the entrance was closed in mid-July. A group of local residents is now in charge of the opening/closing of the cemetery, but the park’s fate is in limbo. #Carson#Lincoln
What are the laws regarding the status, treatment and disposition of human remains? @WFULawSchool prof Tanya Marsh (@TMAR22) is often asked about this, especially when stories like the Harvard morgue case are in the news. Her answers are often surprising.
