I have just listened to today's interview with Vitaliy Barabash, the Head of Avdiivka Military Administration, on @tweetsNV radio.

I want to highlight something he said (I cried while listening):

For almost a month now, russian forces have been storming Avdiivka to encircle and capture the city. Before this escalation, there was no single building left standing, and now the city is being wiped out.

1,574 people out of 26,000 now remain in Avdiivka.

They live in basements, their houses have no roofs and they hardly ever go outside. They are under shelling 24/7.
Before the escalation, there were 6 shops in the city; only one is open; three of the six were completely destroyed recently. The city has humanitarian aid, of course.

Why don't people leave? Some are afraid because the road is constantly shelled. Some say they have nowhere else to go. But the main reason is the fear that they will never return here.

Recently, people have been signing up for evacuation more actively. Winter is coming. They will not survive the second winter in such conditions.
