@uctransnetwork is the first Caribbean regional trans group that encompass trans voices together to advocate on behalf of the protection and recognition of the human rights of trans persons in the region.
Historically transgender people in the Caribbean have
experienced structural gender-based violence throughout their lives, which impedes their adequate access to services and contributes to poor health outcomes and quality of life. Unfortunately, in the region trans people experience economic, physical, sexual violence, and other human rights violations based on their gender identity and expression.
Trans persons suffer threats, assaults, harassment physically and are often denied services just because expressing and living openly as who they are.

We are happy to announce our keynote speaker for Pride Bahamas 2023. Helen Klonaris who started the Bahamas LGBTIQA movement in The Bahamas through the The Bahamas Rainbow Alliance.The group was established in May 1999 during a social event hosted by members of other LGBT groups.
We are happy to honor and announce our keynote note presentation by Dr. Kreimild Saunders On Thursday 5th October.
She is a professor at the University of The Bahamas, who, from the late 80s/ early 90s, would have been having LGBTIQA public discussions in academic spaces.
