PRESS RELEASE
LASG CAUTIONS MOTORISTS AGAINST REMITTING PAYMENTS TO TOUTS FOR ILLEGAL PARKING ON BRIDGES AND OPEN SPACES.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, has unequivocally admonished motorists to desist from making illicit payments to touts for illegal parking on bridges and other open spaces across Lagos State.
This directive comes in response to reports indicating that private vehicle owners have been engaging in transactions with street urchins for unauthorized parking privileges at various locations within the metropolis.
Hon. Giwa underscored the imperative of strict adherence to government-installed road signage and urban furniture, which explicitly delineate designated “No Parking” zones. He emphasized that noncompliance contributes significantly to congestion and impedes the seamless flow of traffic.
Highlighting notorious areas plagued by illegal parking, he referenced locations such as Ebute-Ero, Ejalonibu, Adeniji-Adele, Oyingbo, Oworonsoki, Iyana-Ipaja and Medical Road near Computer Village, among others, where vehicles are indiscriminately stationed on bridges and other restricted spaces, thereby exacerbating vehicular gridlock.
Reaffirming the government’s stance on maintaining order on Lagos roads, Hon. Giwa reiterated that the administration will not remain passive while such unlawful practices persist. He further cautioned that motorists attempting to validate their infractions by citing payments to touts will face stringent enforcement measures.
The Lagos State Government, therefore, urges all motorists to comply with established traffic regulations and refrain from patronizing unscrupulous elements who exploit public spaces for personal gain.

PRESS RELEASE
LASG ISSUES STRICT WARNING TO MOTORISTS ON PERSISTENT BRT LANE VIOLATIONS
The Lagos State Government emphatically admonishes all motorists, both private and commercial, to desist forthwith from the continued infringement on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes across the State.
This directive follows the impoundment of over 488 vehicles by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for breaching BRT lane regulations between January and August 2024. All offenders have been charged to the Lagos State Mobile Court for prosecution.
Particular attention is drawn to motorists traversing the Abule-Egba BRT corridor. They are strongly urged to cease further contraventions, as the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) has recently completed extensive road rehabilitation from Abule-Egba to Iyana-Ipaja, especially near 'Super Ile-Epo' and 'Katangura Market.' The road’s improved condition renders the unlawful use of BRT lanes both redundant and inexcusable.
The government reiterates that motorists plying routes from Abule-Egba through Iyana-Ipaja, Dopemu, and Oshodi must strictly adhere to designated lanes. Any individual found encroaching upon the BRT lanes will be duly prosecuted by the Lagos State Mobile Court.
While the Lagos State Government remains resolute in its mission to provide cutting-edge infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens, such efforts require the active cooperation of road users. Motorists are thus enjoined to exhibit discipline and patience, fostering a safer and more efficient traffic environment.
It is important to note that the 488 vehicles were apprehended by LASTMA operatives at various strategic locations, including Ikorodu, Maryland, Anthony, Apongbon, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ojuelegba, and Oyingbo.

Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment, LASTMA.

Zebra crossings play a crucial role in pedestrian safety, yet many Lagosians don’t know it’s a traffic offense not to give way to pedestrians at zebra crossings.
What's your experience with zebra crossings? Have you witnessed any memorable moments or challenges?
Do share!
Running a red light is a traffic offense that could endanger the lives of other road users, and earn you a traffic fine as well.
Always stop on ‘red’ to keep our roads safe.
