The #IDUForum2026 in Zagreb has wrapped. 200+ representatives. 50 centre-right parties from across Europe and the world. @idualliance set the stage for exactly the kind of conversation Brussels too often avoids - frank, grounded, and with real political consequences on the table.

My panel hit at the heart of it: can Europe rearm while its own regulatory framework quietly penalises defence investment? The answer right now is no. Banks aren't banned from financing defence - but every euro lent to a tank producer drags down their sustainability score. Capital flows elsewhere. That is Europe slowly disarming itself on paper while demanding rearmament in practice.

What we have to understand is that security is not a luxury. It is the precondition for everything else - climate targets included.

Grateful to @TMercep and @stephenharper for spearheading these talks and keeping the @idualliance sharp, honest, and action-oriented.

S više od 300 sudionika iz 50-ak zemalja #IDUForum2026, čiji je domaćin @HDZ_HR, pokazuje snagu i relevantnost obitelji desnog centra. Okupljeni smo oko zajedničkih vrijednosti — slobode, demokracije, vladavine prava, odgovornosti i tržišnog gospodarstva.

🇪🇺🇺🇸 U nesigurnom svijetu, odnos između Europe i SAD-a treba ostati utemeljen na povjerenju, odgovornosti i međusobnom poštovanju.

Za Europu su strateški izazovi: energetska sigurnost, demografska obnova i snažnija obrana.

Sigurnost više nije isključivo vojno pitanje, već obuhvaća i gospodarsku, tehnološku te društvenu dimenziju. Obrana nije trošak, već ulaganje u mir.
✅ Hrvatska je premašila @NATO obveze ulaganja u obranu (2,08% BDP-a u 2025.) i fokusirana je na modernizaciju. Ujedno doprinosimo i širim 🇪🇺 naporima za jačanje obrambene sposobnosti.

Demografija je središnje pitanje za budućnost Europe, što smo naglasili i u deklaraciji na sastanku lidera @EPP u Zagrebu.
✅ Prvi smo u EU-u uspostavili posebno ministarstvo nadležno za demografiju, a uz veća proračunska izdvajanja ulažemo u potporu roditeljstvu i mladim obiteljima, kao i u gradnju vrtića i škola.
