Hi there!
We are the Translational Nuclear Receptor Research unit, led by Prof. Karolien De Bosscher. You can find us in the beautiful city of Ghent (Belgium).
We went to primary schools to teach about DNA & the heredity of genes for 'Science on the Road'. Children built candy DNA and performed an experiment to find out: Is it you, or your DNA that you (dis)like coriander?
We hope we have inspired some of them to become scientists!
🙌 Meet Katleen De Preter (@kdpreter) who recently joined @VIB_CMB as principal investigator. Milton Antwi and @NickDeploey interviewed her for us. Kalteen's TOBI team develops analytical and bioinformatic pipelines for more precise cancer management. 👇

Last month, Eleni Staessens won the Ziphius-award for her master thesis around the use of HDAC6 inhibitors in Multiple Myeloma. This month, Eleni started her PhD in our @TNRR_Lab. Congrats and welcome (back) Eleni!
The limited predictive power of cell-based screening assays hampers the search for better glucocorticoids. In this latest research, we developed novel luciferase-based assays that are consistently better predictors for GC signaling on the endogenous level.

Congrats to our latest lab member Lisa Koorneef for obtaining the @FWOVlaanderen Junior Postdoc grant on battling Rheumatoid Arthritis with Nuclear Receptor Heterodimers. Good luck finding the best of both worlds!
New work of Laura of @TNRR_Lab and my lab: "Novel assays monitoring direct glucocorticoid receptor protein activity exhibit high predictive power for ligand activity on endogenous gene targets" https://t.co/Vc0XM6sb6J with @Svennetti@AnStaes and many more!
Striving to improve treatment responses and quality of life of multiple myeloma patients by studying nuclear receptor crosstalk (Dorien Clarisse, @TNRR_Lab) #whywecare#dagtegenkanker
In the latest Nature Communications, Dorien Clarisse and Karolien De Bosscher, discuss the contribution of the Glucocorticoid Receptor in therapy resistance in the treatment of solid cancers.

Welcoming another talented PhD student to the team! Milton Antwi recently obtained his @FWOVlaanderen grant to study PPARα-ERRα ligand combinations in treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. 🤞🤞 for a Covid-free 2021 to celebrate this with the team!
@KrisGevaert_VIB@VIB_CMB Talented PhD student found! Chloé Van Leene started this month on her PhD project titled: "A new tool to map proteome conformations in cells to reveal the structural plasticity of the glucocorticoid receptor". Welcome and good luck, Chloé!
Check out the latest review of Dorien Clarisse (Postdoc @TNRR_Lab
) in BBA-Reviews on Cancer. We discuss the need to reevaluate the use of glucocorticoids in lymphoid malignancies and how a deep understanding of glucocorticoid responsiveness is required. https://t.co/lQhdxRlP5b
Please help spreading! The @VIB_CMB De Bosscher lab and my lab are hiring a talented PhD student who fearlessly will take on the challenge of using conformational proteomics to study the glucorticoid receptor. More info: https://t.co/lp8ABAN80k.
Take a look at our latest review on nuclear receptor crosstalk in Nature Reviews Endocrinology. Glad to have collaborated with Eva Estébanez-Perpiñá & Luc Brunsveld!

We are recruiting a new PhD student!
Do you want to help us find novel therapeutic strategies to treat non-alcoholic fatty liver disease?
Then this might be the perfect opportunity for you!
