50 year old Jesse Gilbert Wiseman is wanted in connection to the murder of 20 year old Laura Lopera. Jesse may be hiding out in Canada after allegedly killing Laura in Colombia.

Laura Isabel Lopera’s body was found stuffed in a suitcase. News organizations in Medellin and Bogota reported Jesse Gilbert Wiseman, 50, as a suspect in Lopera’s death. She, a 20-year-old mother, had been in a relationship with Wiseman for a few months. Wiseman, previously residing in Terence Bay outside Halifax, is believed to have relocated to Guatemala last year. Colombian authorities stated that Wiseman left Colombia for Guatemala on Feb. 9, three days before Lopera’s body was discovered in an apartment in Medellin. However, it is believed she died before that. Wiseman, according to his Facebook page, hails from Iowa and was involved in football and wrestling during his schooling in Iowa and Louisiana. He stated he moved to Bathurst, N.B., in 2001. Local media received an audio clip from police of Wiseman verbally abusing and threatening Lopera. Investigators suspect their relationship was abusive. Colombia is known for sex tourism, with affluent men from various countries visiting for such activities. The exact nature of Wiseman and Lopera’s relationship remains unclear.

Authorities urge anyone with information on Wiseman’s whereabouts to contact local police.

Person of Interest known only as Slim is wanted in connection with the murder of Joel Zimbalatti in Sparwood BC.

Slim was last seen in the Kimberley area on Oct. 11, but is known to have ties to the Okanagan.

He is white, 20 to 25 years old, tall and skinny, with black hair and narrowly trimmed sideburns.

Anyone who sees Slim is advised not to approach and to call 911. Anyone with information can call the major crime information line at 1-877-987-8477.

In episode 80 of True North True Crime we had the privilege of sitting down with Denise McKee, mother of missing toddler Jeffrey Dupres.

Jeffrey disappeared from Slave Lake Alberta on April 24th, 1980 and 43 years later the family still doesn’t have any answers.

Unfortunately the RCMP are dragging their heels when it comes to investigating his case despite telling Denise they would make a decision as to whether or not they would take another look at the case back in August.

Denise still hasn’t received a formal answer as to their decision. We ask that you reach out to the Slave Lake RCMP at 1-780-849-3999 to politely ask them to reinvestigate Jeffrey’s case.
