GHMC Standing Committee Approves Key Infrastructure, Sanitation & Digital Governance Proposals

The 6th Ordinary Meeting of the GHMC Standing Committee was held on 25 July 2026 under the Chairmanship of Sri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary, MA&UD Department, in the presence of the Commissioner, GHMC Sri R.V Karnan, Additional Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners, and Heads of Departments.

The Committee approved and deliberated on key proposals covering the modernization of the Gowlipura Small Animal Slaughterhouse; construction of the Sanjeevaiah Park ROB, Rasoolpura Bidirectional Flyover, CC Roads at Hydershakote, and BT Roads in Badangpet; collection of pending Right of Way (RoW) pole rental charges; engagement of a Swachhata Knowledge Partner under SBM(U) 2.0; implementation of ITC's CSR-based "Wellbeing Out of Waste" programme in schools; migration of GHMC applications to Microsoft Azure Cloud; introduction of a mobile-based facial recognition biometric attendance system for sanitation and entomology workers; adoption and maintenance of Jubilee Hills parks under CSR; and road development proposals involving property acquisition for missing link corridors in Kismathpur, Bandlaguda Jagir, and Shamshabad.

The Standing Committee also recommended proposals requiring Corporation approval for further consideration, reaffirming GHMC's commitment to strengthening infrastructure, urban governance, sanitation, digital transformation, and improved civic services across Hyderabad.

Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, Commissioner, GHMC & District Election Officer, Hyderabad, along with the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Secunderabad Cantonment , visited Polling Station No. 81, Suman Colony, West Marredpally, to inspect the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 activities.

During the visit, the DEO reviewed the house-to-house Enumeration Form distribution process, interacted with citizens, addressed their queries, and created awareness about the importance of verifying electoral details and participating in the SIR-2026 exercise.

He instructed the ERO, AEROs, BLO Supervisory Officers, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to ensure timely distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms, comprehensive household coverage, strict adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, and completion of all assigned responsibilities within the stipulated timeline.

Andhra Pradesh police arrested Journalist KV Reddy from his residence in Hyderabad late last night.

While the details of the case are unclear at the moment, apparently a case has been filed on KV Reddy for his alleged unsavoury comments on Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

A complaint was lodged by TDP cadre three months ago and KV Reddy was also called for questioning already.

Last night, Andhra Pradesh policemen came to his residence in Hyderabad late last night and arrested him.

The journalists’ wife and children were definitely terrorised by the whole incident.
