Dear Odufuwa,
Thank you for your feedback. I am not sure it is the wisest thing to argue against facts. That the books now called Matthew, Mark, and John were written by anonymous authors whose identities are unknown to this day is a fact. It is anti-intellectual to argue against such facts that are notorious amongst scholars.
Also, these books were not translated. They were ORIGINALLY written in a European language known as Koine Greek, a language which I read. Koine Greek is different from modern-day Greek.
All three of these books were given the names of the 'Gospel according to Mark, Matthew, and John' between 150 and 200 years after the death of Yeshua (Nabi Isa, Jesus). It is not known if these anonymous authors met our Lord.
Furthermore, the original book of Mark ends at Mark 16:8. The verses after Mark 16:8 were added centuries later by anonymous writers.
The Apostle Paul was not even aware of their existence, as they were written after his death. The first books of what is now known as the New Testament (the term New Testament was coined 200 years after Yeshua died) were written by Paul, with 1 Thessalonians being the first, and were written 50 years after the death of our Lord.
I understand your righteous and holy indignation. But facts are as sacred as faith.
Finally, the Bible was not written as the Old Testament and New Testament. These terms were invented by Europeans living in Europe. The term Bible is of European origin, and the books in the standard version were compiled by European men. I did not say they wrote them. I said they COMPILED them. In doing so, they left out books, such as the Book of Enoch, which was quoted by Yehuda (Jude), the brother of Yeshua, in Jude 1:14–15.
In contrast, the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible, which is far older than the King James Bible, includes the Book of Enoch.
It is not that I want to burst your bubble. I love God. And my zeal for the Creator caused me to spend more than half a million dollars travelling to almost every town and village mentioned in the Jewish Tanakh, the Gospels and the letters of Paul.
Not to boast, but I doubt you can name a place mentioned in Scripture that I have not physically visited for research.
If you Google it, you will see me at the John Rylands University Library, reading the oldest surviving parchment of the Gospels on this planet.
It is quite possible that these books were, as you say, written by these men. But we do not know. What we know is that they were written anonymously and were attributed to them centuries later.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.
