@madeleinedupre@madeleinedupre CTU spent millions to elect a mayor who used to work for CTU. Now he negotiates their contract. Who sits across the table for the taxpayer? Half my property tax bill goes to CPS. I fund the whole loop.
@jdyjohns@JoshuaMellin Sorry your buddy got greedy and couldn’t come to an agreement like every other rooftop. There’s one party here that greedy, it ain’t the Ricketts
This city (Chicago) DRINKS.
Now past 6pm, every patio is packed, every other block has a bar, seems like every dude got out of work and is at happy hour. Beer in hand
NYC drinks too, but Chicago feels like it was built around having a beer.
Respect.
Am I wrong?
@lacherbauer@lacherbauer well said. Daley and Rahm were relentless marketers of the city. Any time they held a press conference or were being interviewed, they took time to market the city, especially to corporate leaders.
Johnson uses all of his oxygen to essentially do the opposite.
@lacherbauer@lacherbauer just do high speed bus on Western and Ashland with stops every four blocks. Two east/west lines running at North Ave and Belmont, connecting the red to the blue would be far better use for the same amount of elevated rail
@Stealx@Stealx yes, decades ago Chicago didn't compete with Nashville, Austin, or Miami for B1G grads but they also competed much more with Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, and other rust belt cities whose corporate bases have shrunk.
@Eric_Erins@usrbinsean@Eric_Erins we also need to re-evaluate a transportation system designed when we had 400,000 more children, meaning we now have 400,000 more adults who travel further to work/play/etc than a neighborhood school. Big reason why traffic feels worse today.
Pete Crow-Armstrong of the @Cubs is one of three players in MLB history to have a month with:
.375+ batting average
.775+ slugging pct
80+ total bases
15+ walks
10+ home runs
5+ stolen bases
The others are Babe Ruth (June 1920, July 1920, May 1930) and Lou Gehrig (June 1930).
@JakeSheridan_@JakeSheridan_@Austin__Berg As a Chicago homeowner my property taxes fund CPS salaries, CTU dues come out of those salaries, CTU then spends on candidates and positions I oppose who want to raise my taxes further. The well-funded opponent at least spends donors’ money, not mine.
