On like hole 14, Saturday of the @PGATOURAmericas@OspreyOpen, my caddie (@TPGolfCoach) turns to me after another laser beam from Michael and says: “I think he’s my favorite PGA Tour player.” I took it as a joke, but apparently Michael didn’t 🤷♂️
Every year on 9/11, I watch ESPN's "The Man in the Red Bandana," which tells the story of Welles Crowther, a former college lacrosse player who saved a dozen people in the South tower.
If you've never seen this, take 13 minutes and watch it now.
“It’s something you can take for granted, and I’m definitely not.”
Winning for the first time as a dad with his own father on the bag. A special week for @Stuart_Mac_Golf in Peru.
This is why I love dev Tours
Stu Macdonald has been the best dev tour player by far over the last year or so.
And now a win on the @PGATOURAmericas with his dad on the bag. The hug shows the grind for both the player and the family.
I love it
15 years ago, I made my first Opening Day start for the Toronto Blue Jays at the ripe age of 21 years old. I will never forget the energy of 50k Blue Jays fans absolutely rocking the Roger Center as I rounded the bases on my first home run of the season.
For the month of April I was on fire. My mind started to race at the idea of replicating that production 5 more times on the way to a Rookie of the Year award. I felt like I had officially arrived.
We talk a lot about dealing with failure, and not enough about dealing with success. In my case, I didn’t make it out of May before getting that dreaded call into the managers office and a ticket to AAA.
Sure the league made some adjustments, and I was battling through a back injury. But above all else, my ego had taken the wheel. It was running wild with all the what if’s. The projections. The hype.
10 years, $100 million. Couple All Star games. Fame.
When I eventually struggled, it was like the world flipped upside down. I had invested so much energy into the outside noise, I lost control of my process. And with that, my confidence.
Words like potential are a funny concept. We focus a lot of time on grinding out technical and tactical training, but overlook the real user’s manual.
Failure is a very important learning experience, but so is success. Success can be a very triggering experience, and lead humans down a path many never envision themselves going down.
Wishing all the boys out there on the field a healthy and happy 2024 season. Nobody remembers who won the first mile of a marathon. Chop wood, carry water, and enjoy the ride.
Last 6 holes Nick Taylor’s approach shot were all within 15 feet
15- 81 yards to 3 feet
16- 166 yards to 6 feet
17- 46 yards to 13 feet
18- 141 yards to 9 feet
P1- 140 yards to 15 feet
P2- 141 yards to 11 feet.
He birdied 5 of them to win.
Goodness gracious
Pretty awesome to see two players go from PGA TOUR Canada & PGA TOUR LatinoAmerica straight to the @PGATOUR via Q-School...Excellent playing by Hayden Springer and Raul Pereda this week...PGA TOUR Americas starts in March and I suspect we will see more of this #niceplayers
Seven Canadians are set to tee it up at the Final Stage of Q-School with five @PGATOUR cards on the line.
One throwback of note that I love to see: Jared du Toit has reunited with Toronto's Sean Burke as caddy, who looped for him at the 2016 RBC Canadian Open when Jerry was in the final group on Sunday as an amateur.
They also worked together at Second Stage.
The rest of the gang (and how they got here):
Thomas Giroux (via Second Stage)
Etienne Papineau (via @PGATOURCanada)
Sudarshan Yellamaraju (via Second Stage)
Myles Creighton (via PGA TOUR Latinoamerica)
Stu MacDonald (via Second Stage)
Yi Cao (via @PGATOURCanada)
Survived 2nd stage of KFT Q School this week. Battled my bag off with my boy @TPGolfCoach and did enough to move on. Final stage in a couple weeks. Let’s gooooo!
🇨🇦 Jared du Toit and Stuart Macdonald successfully advance to final stage of PGA TOUR/KFT Qualifying through the 2nd stage site in Valencia, California
This week wasn’t the only time Michael Block has grown the game. @PGA , we’ve gotta figure out how to get more folks like him to get into the business. $17/hr starting wages and $20/hr Asst Pro gigs isn’t going to work. And club members, you’d be shocked if you knew what your hard working pros earn. Time for change! @MattGinella
Smell ya later Bruins. What a shot by Varhaeghe. Bruins were so sloppy in OT. So many turnovers and the dream season is over. Leafs going to Cup finals against Edmonton
Six minutes of high-intensity exercise substantially increases BDNF - a neurotrophic factor that helps keep the brain young.
Six 40-second intervals at 100% of VO2 max increased BDNF 4- to 5-fold more than light exercise for 90 minutes did.
