All-time lists are inherently ephemeral and ever-shifting, but I felt like making a topster of my favorite albums. In no particular order except for the first 5, which I consider genuinely perfect in every facet #musictwt
I’m still too beleaguered and heart-damaged to go to any of the Pride events this weekend and it’s fucking depressing. I’m so tired of being sick and not having the energy to leave my house
Thinkin bout when my cis male bestie and my nonbinary bestie started dating and he came to me for advice on how he should properly dirty talk to them. It was slightly awkward but mostly heartwarming
as someone who went to a Boygenius show I fully support this. Most of the time I think the “gen Z just spends the entire concert recording and never put their phones down” thing is a gross exaggeration but holy SHIT it was true there
Phoebe Bridgers premiered new music during her device-free $1 concert at Madison Square Garden:
“And if any of you stuck an Apple Watch up your a** to record this, please don’t post it on the internet — I’m trusting you.”
@zermatist Gira signee Devendra Banhart is an excellent & very weird musician but he also looks like THE prototypical stomp clap faux-hipster. It all comes full circle
new Of Montreal, Modest Mouse, and Death Cab For Cutie albums dropping tonight. The “hipster music” discourse is gonna continue through the weekend huh
@JonesJaden17609 12 free beers a night would almost assuredly lead to my untimely demise, I don’t have the self-control for that type of power. I’m taking touchtunes
I see we’re doing RTJ discourse today so lemme just say RTJ1 is their best, RTJ3 is their worst (some great songs but it’s also when they became a parody of themselves, this is undeniable). Also I will be very very sad if we never get another El-P solo album
One of these days Im gonna finish writing my piece about the cultural misnomer of the “indie sleaze” label bc this is so true. why are we lumping fans of 2001 interpol, late 2000s crystal castles, and mid 2010s mumford and sons into the same bucket. Those are three different guys
look, i'm not humorless so i can get behind jokes looking back on the hipster era just as much as the next girl who spent too much money at american apparel. But people have GOT to stop associating that scene with stomp clap lumineers shit. it's inaccurate!
Graduating high school a year before the Brockhampton phenomenon distanced me from it in a way I’m still bummed about. I think being an Odd Future stan for years burned me out on obsessing over a new collective
Much has been said on the topic but I’m just now starting to experience the “getting gendered correctly in neutral environments but not in woke spaces” phenomenon and what the FUCK is up with that
People at the queer meet ups: “this is Robin, he… sorry, they? Pronoun circle everyone?”
Dudes at the country bar playing morgan wallen on touchtunes: “ma’am I think you walked into the wrong bathroom. But can I buy you a drink?”
@dangbozo Ugh the worst is when they come back weeks later and do that shit. “I think last time you made me something that was good” I’ve seen a thousand people in that timespan ya gotta be more specific than that bud
Also my liver is fucking fantastic? I’ve cut back on drinking a lot and almost entirely ceased hard drug use but still I was putting myself through the ringer for a couple years there.
Unfortunately my brain takes that as “ehh keep partying yr good till like 30 at least”
Update in case anyone was at all curious: went to the doctor for my heart pains, it’s possible I have slight inflammation but nothing too scary. Still paranoid tho. The pain is not at all debilitating but like, sharp pains directly in yr heart is always gonna be scary as fuuuuck
