If we reach $20,000 in support (we're $6,000 away!), we'll be able to repair the space's drop-ceiling, prep the warehouse, and install two doors (safety first!).
At $27,500, our Microcinema's upgrades take center stage: seating, sound system, and snack bar for Lee's Summit's only independent screen will be top priority.
$35,000 improves the store's security, warehouse racks, and point-of-sale setup.
At $42,500, [beautification intensifies] as we add "New Release" shelves, endcaps, and movie memorabilia - all the things that will make the store fun to browse, not just a hub for finding your next favorite film!
Finally, $50,000 in support would mean a BIG boost in stock variety - we need to have an incredible slate available on day one, or people will *not* be encouraged to come back. We plan on bringing in imports and wholesale titles from a vast slate of boutique and studio labels across the US and the world!

We also highlighted Pamela Hutchinson’s book “The Curse of Queen Kelly,” which was published earlier this year. This book covers the unbelievable story of the production of “Queen Kelly,” an infamous film that was never released, yet continued to haunt everyone involved.
For July, we chose to spotlight New Wave Video, the Australian/Japanese company that launched in 2025. Despite the short amount of time since launch, they’ve already made a name for themselves with impressive releases that showcase a diverse mixture of Japanese cinema.
In David Winnick’s “The Death of Mass Market,” he explores the implications of the main distributor of mass market books ceasing distribution of this affordable format. It’s a staggering piece about what we’ve lost in this new reality.
