As we mark mental health week, @TorontoPolice emphasizes the importance of mental wellbeing for everyone in our community, including our members!
Wellness within translates to wellness out. #PrioritizeYourMentalHealth
I am very pleased we have agreed in principle to a 5 year hiring plan that will bring certainty to our ability to continue to hire police officers to help us keep our great city safe. This level of multi-year commitment is unprecedented. Staff from TPS and the City are continuing to work on the full budget, including identifying current and future pressures, and it will be brought before the Toronto Police Service Board in December for consideration. Today is a good day and a step towards building in hiring certainty for our members, and very importantly, for the safety of our city.
I visited the hospital to support our injured @TPS53Div Mobile Crisis Intervention Team member, their family & our colleagues. More than 550 police officers have been injured this year, underlining the inherent risks officers face each day. These incidents underscore the challenges our officers face in their commitment to serve and protect. 1/2
During #MentalHealthWeek, the Service and I are committed to encouraging our @torontopolice members to take action and contribute to a culture where talking about mental health challenges is safe and everyone can access the #MentalHealth support they need.
#YouAreNotAlone

Today, I stood with thousands of Ontario police service members in honouring the service and sacrifice of those who have died in the line of duty at the 25th annual @HeroesInLife Ceremony of Remembrance. They will never be forgotten. #HeroesInLife
Last night, members of the @TPAca board attended the 26th annual Toronto Crime Stoppers Chief of Police Dinner to celebrate the valuable partnership between @1800222TIPS and @TorontoPolice to keep our communities safe. It was great to catch up with many of our members.
It's #NationalVolunteerWeek, and TPS is fortunate to have amazing volunteers who help us better serve the community and create a more inclusive environment. Thank you for being a part of the team. #NVW2024#EveryMomentMatters
