Public execution turns the taking of life into a spectacle before a crowd, and a production for live-streaming, clips multiplied on social media, etc. As witnessed in the past, public executions tends to feed vengeance, curiosity, or contempt rather than restrained justice, and it exposed onlookers—especially the young—to a ritualized killing that blunts moral sensitivity.
