W/the craziness and chaos @ the National, State, and Municipal levels, it’s all the more imperative we do what we can at the local,/neighborhood level. Nehemiah could not control geopolitics of his day. But, that did not stop him from building up his community (see Nehemiah 1-8).
Recently, I’ve reached out 2 some at the other of the religious/political spectrum. And, my experience confirms there is no real desire 4 honest, constructive dialogue about how to move towards a better, more inclusive 4 every1, not simply the fans of MAGMA. Hard 2 hope 4 change!
“MAGMA’’s desire 2 return 2 better times rest on revisionist history, which highlights historic privilege of some, but ignores it came at the expense of others, who are yet exploited & dehumanization of others. Until we do so, we can’t have a real constructive convo.
@SteveDeaceShow@theblaze I’ve questioned if we can refrain from shouting down & demeaning the opposition. Instead, can we learn to listen respectfully, openly? God, I believe, has ways for us work through the chaos & bitterness which currently paralyzes the US & further divides Christians.
@SteveDeaceShow@theblaze I detect the sincerity & decency in your commentary. So, I ask: How do we reclaim our unique space in the public square, where believers of varying stripes & views model what it means to demonstrate kingdom values and practices, not simply pushing a particular party line?
@SteveDeaceShow@theblaze I’m a Christian, & I’ve been disappointed w/how Christians, especially Evangelicals, have failed to call out practices, comments, & policies which are hurtful, immoral, &/or unChristian. Will we ever insist on & model higher standards for public discourse & seek common ground?
@SteveDeaceShow@theblaze I share some of your frustration w/how the political spectrum frames arguments. Admittedly, if you don’t agree w/ a point, you are demonized. Yet, I defer on your point that it’s only the Left which is intolerant, inflexible. The Right is, too, which is rarely acknowledged.
