BREAKING: "STUPID QUESTION!" Trump MELTS DOWN on Air Force One after a female reporter asks why senators should stay for a doomed vote on his voter suppression bill. Donald Trump’s hostility towards the mainstream media is legendary, but he always seems to reserve his most vicious attacks for female reporters. Today, fresh off his attacks on CNN’s Kaitlyn Collins at the White House Correspondents' dinner this weekend, Trump had a brand new meltdown aboard Air Force One — this time targeting a female reporter who simply asked a basic, fair question about his own legislative priorities. Flying to Michigan, a reporter asked why Trump wanted the Senate to stay in Washington rather than campaign ahead of the midterms, specifically regarding the SAVE Act — legislation requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote, which the Senate has already voted down TWICE, 48-50. "What a stupid question," Trump snapped in his typically offensive manner. When she pressed again, asking whether senators should be out campaigning instead, Trump repeated himself: "What a stupid question." He then bizarrely pivoted mid-sentence to say that the reporter, Iowa -native Jennifer Jacobs, whom he’s known since the 2016 Iowa caucuses, was "smart" before she asked such a “stupid” question. This kind of abusive behavior towards a female member of the press isn't an isolated incident. Trump has a well-documented pattern of demeaning female journalists specifically, repeatedly calling them "stupid," "ugly," "piggy," and "incapable" — language press freedom groups describe as "an unmistakable pattern of hostility." Just months ago, he told ABC's Rachel Scott she was "one of the worst reporters," and days later informed MS NOW's Akayla Gardner, "You are not a smart person." A George Washington University political science professor summed it up plainly: "He doesn't do this as often to men reporters as he does to women reporters." And here's the irony: the question wasn't stupid at all. It's a completely reasonable thing to ask why Trump wants the Senate to prioritize a bill that has ZERO chance of passing because four REPUBLICAN senators — Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell, and Thom Tillis — have voted against it, rather than letting all the senators campaign ahead of the critical midterm elections. This tantrum is also part of a much bigger pattern: Trump's Justice Department has sued 30 states and D.C. demanding unredacted voter rolls, and lost all 17 cases decided so far. With a federal deadline looming on August 5th, Trump's broader effort to influence the midterms through voter roll manipulation is failing in court just as spectacularly as his patience with basic journalism. When the truth is inconvenient, apparently every honest question becomes "stupid."
