Simple Analogy for Th1 Immune Response
Think of your adaptive immune system as having specialized “teams” led by CD4+ T helper (Th) cells.
Th1 team = Special forces / cell-mediated immunity. They excel at handling threats hiding inside your own cells (viruses, certain bacteria) or rogue/abnormal cells (like early cancer cells).
Th2 team = Antibody-focused / humoral team, better at large external parasites or allergic-type responses.
A healthy system maintains balance between these (and other subsets like Th17 and regulatory T cells/Tregs). Th1 produces key signaling molecules (cytokines) such as IFN-γ (interferon-gamma), IL-2, and TNF-α. These signals rally and activate other immune cells.
