Critics further contend that the 30% share of government appointments that the Kenya Kwanza administration promised the Luhya community has, in practice, largely benefited one family instead of being distributed fairly across the region.

Moses Wetang'ula; CS Debora Barasa; Harriet Chigai, Presidential Advisor; PS Juma Mukhwana (Industry); Beverly Opwora (Office of the President); Waningilo Walubengo, who was shortlisted for the IPOA Chairperson position; Tongaren MP John Chikati, who serves in influential parliamentary committees; Luke Opwora, a nominated MCA in Bungoma; and Dr. Nancy Barasa, Chairperson of Women's Affairs at State House, among many others.
The concentration of these appointments has raised questions among some leaders and members of the public about equity, inclusivity, and whether leadership opportunities are being shared fairly across the wider Luhya community.
