“St Gerard’s, founded in 1917 with strong links to our essential RAF Valley, will close.
The introduction of VAT, the removal of charitable [business rates], & the increase in NI contributions have made running the school no longer financially viable.”

“What @bphillipsonMP has done is displace 40,000 children…find places elsewhere either because their school has closed or they don’t have the money to pay VAT. The reason why those taxes were put in place was to fund 6.5k more teachers. We have 2k fewer teachers”.
@KemiBadenoch
@annaturley Another half wit Labour MP, it is a spite tax as no other reason behind punishing children like this taking opportunity away from them! And again I will say the rich don’t care they can afford to pay the bill, it’s all those that were in between, making a sacrifice that suffer
@DavidLammy Another load of rubbish! You move houses to ensure your kids can attend the best state schools, skip the lists due to your positions and then tell us that we are privileged! Think you need to look in the mirror
@vickygrayson_@NoEducationTax@Keir_Starmer Thanks Vicky!
She has settled in well at her new school!
Mentally it affected her for a good 6 months! She worried every night that she might have to move school again! But no one bothers about that!
Mum is happy in her new job, step dad not so much!
Hope you are well!
📈 3,008 more teachers in secondaries & special schools
📈1,646 more teachers in colleges
📈Trainee teachers up 13%
📈 Teacher pay up 9.5%
📈 Record investment in schools
If standing up for state schools makes me a spiteful class warrior, I’ll wear it with pride.

As @Keir_Starmer cried for himself at the end of his resignation speech, I thought about the children, parents and staff that he set out to hurt with VAT on school fees.
The education of children continues to be disrupted as schools close.
Not once has he thought of them.
@BBCPolitics Absolute rubbish! 3 against 1! And 3 are wrong! It’s not a subsidy! And actually the parents who choose independent are subsidising the public schools by not taking that place or funding!
Absolutely spot on from Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch👇🏼
This is exactly what I’ve been saying for months now.
The problem isn’t just Keir Starmer, it’s the entire Labour Party.
They’re all incompetent and they have all inflicted cruel policies on us.
Labour can attack Farage on the NHS, but they cannot rewrite their own record. Private finance, outsourcing, private providers and market-style reforms were pushed deep into the NHS by Labour and then carried on by the Conservatives.
“I think people who work hard and aspire to have a private education for their kids should have that freedom.” Rishi was right. If only we had a government which believed in aspiration and success
Labour’s VAT policy on private schools is continuing to backfire.
The latest casualty: Thetford Grammar School, which has provided education for over 1,400 years.
More than 100 independent schools have now closed since the policy’s introduction.
The politics of envy fails again.
