I’m convinced that anyone who says Thinking Fast and Slow is a good book is just trying to masquerade as erudite and sophisticated
Nothing against Kahneman, but that brick is literally 500 pages of word vomit that could’ve been said in two paragraphs
If Wes wants to commit to maxmimum waiting times down to 18 weeks by the end of this term of Government then that journey to pay restoration can not be at a rate of 0.9% a year.
That would take over 20 years.
As someone from a working class background I find this deeply offensive. The people Jenrick confronted are criminals who make life harder for everyone else (including working class people).
Within their national contracts, Resident Doctors’ breaks are paid.
Not because it’s nice.
It’s because there is recognition that it’s impractical and unrealistic to expect a doctor carrying a bleep not to respond to a patient just because they’re on a break.

Oh my, this is is brilliant from @RobLaurensonD4P
🚨 Strike action has cost the govt £3bn
🚨 Full pay restoration would have only cost £1.3bn
🚨 Re 35% demand - a physician’s assistant is paid 35% more than a fully qualified doctor 🤬🤬🤬
"If an incoming government under Keir Starmer wants to continue lying, then strikes will have to continue."
Healthcare staff are the only workers who have not received pay restoration, says Dr @RobLaurensonD4P, on the first day another wave of junior doctors' strike.

I do think there’s this really fascinating - and disturbing - trend going on where we deny young adults the hallmarks of independent adulthood for longer, then are surprised when they behave more like children, and use that behaviour to further infantilise them
The @gmcuk, @NHSEngland & @DHSCgovuk insist PAs are not being used to replace doctors.
But they're not being honest with you.
Here, for example, is a locum agency announcing new software to fill junior doctor shifts with non-doctors.
PAs are doing this across the NHS 🤷♀️
People who didn’t witness this live will never realise how special this moment actually was. Making Boateng who was the consensus best CB itw at the time after his performance in the 2014 WC look like an absolute fool and then going on to chip Neuer….Iconic
The GMC continuing to blur the lines between doctors and PAs is no longer tenable. PAs are not doctors and are not medically trained.
The lived reality is that this is causing significant confusion for patients. (1/2)
The argument that because highly skilled and trained professionals make mistakes, and therefore less skilled and less comprehensively trained professionals should take their place (and that their mistakes should be overlooked) is completely illogical to me.
These remarkable graphs from @jburnmurdoch, who I spoke to at 8.43 on @BBCr4today, show monumental, sudden, devastating social changes, which have civilisational consequences
It is just astonishing how little attention the complete transformation of young adulthood gets
For some groups in particular, the numbers are eye-watering.
Specialty registrars — junior doctors about 5-10 years into their professional career — would be earning *£20,000* more per year today if pay had kept up with inflation.
