So after days of posturing, attacking Arsenal’s negotiating strategy, claiming it would cost the same as Tonali, insisting it would take £80m just to get Newcastle to the table, and saying using intermediaries could blow the whole deal…

It just goes to show that so many transfer “truths” are nothing more than noise. Patience is a virtue.

Fair play to the Arsenal fans who stayed calm and trusted their club. Imagine panicking, paying £20–25m more just to get a deal done a few weeks earlier, and then calling it ambition. That’s not ambition, that’s poor negotiation and a waste of resources.

That kind of unnecessary spending is exactly how clubs create long-term financial problems. Good negotiation should be applauded, not criticised.
